(MAY 30, 2019)—Cheslie Kryst, who was crowned Miss USA on May 2 at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno, Nevada, is coming to High Point. Kryst, who continued her journey to becoming Miss USA by being crowned Miss North Carolina USA in High Point on October 20, 2018, will be at High Point University’s Congdon Hall Ballroom for a private reception with local leaders on Wednesday, June 5 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. “We are proud to welcome Miss USA Cheslie Kryst to High Point University’s campus,” says High Point University President Dr. Nido Qubein. “Miss USA is a respected, nationally known scholarship program that empowers young women to be role models and mentors for people in our communities. Ms. Kryst’s work as an attorney and as Miss USA provides an incredible platform to inspire others.” Qubein has previously served as chairman of the Board of Directors for the Miss North Carolina USA and the Miss North Carolina Teen USA pageants. “The Miss North Carolina USA pageant is one of our city’s crown jewels that attracts visitors from across North Carolina and beyond,” High Point Convention & Visitors Bureau Director of Sales and Marketing Nancy Bowman said. “The Convention & Visitors Bureau provides logistical and hands-on support for the pageant each year, and we’re thrilled to welcome last year’s pageant winner back to High Point under her newest title as Miss USA.” “High Point has been the home of the Miss North Carolina USA Pageant since 2001 and what better way to thank the High Point Convention & Visitors Bureau, High Point University and all of the businesses that have supported us through the years than to bring Cheslie Kryst, our new Miss USA, back to the place where it all began, “ said Paula Miles, executive Director of RPM Productions, which produces Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants in Alabama, Louisiana, North Carolina and South Carolina. After graduating cum laude from University of South Carolina, Kryst received both an MBA and law degree from Wake Forest University. She went on to practice law, becoming licensed in both North and South Carolina. She now works as a civil litigation attorney and defense attorney at Poyner Spruill.
