The Indian Navy at Karachi Port used anti-ship missiles for the first time in this operation. The battle took place on the night of 4 and 5 December, killing more than 500 Pakistani naval personnel. Hence it was named 'Operation Trident' by Indian Navy and decided to celebrate Indian Navy Day on 4 December every year. This year, the theme of Indian Navy Day 2020 is 'Indian Navy - Combat ready, reliable and harmonious'. India suffered no damage during the operation. As part of the operation, the Indian Navy diverted four Pakistani ships and ravaged the fuel areas of the port of Karachi in Pakistan. The Indian Navy fleet sailed from Okha Port in Gujarat towards Pakistani waters to attack Karachi Port. The fleet reached 70 miles south of Karachi at night and the Pakistani ship - PNS Khyber - was sunk after missiles. The Indian Navy is the maritime wing of the Indian Armed Forces and the President of India is its Commander-in-Chief.
