The man who was killed was a black man. That same week, I saw a video of a Harvard educated black man sim- ply ask a Caucasian woman to leash her dog in a park. Within seconds, the woman first threatened and then proceeded to call the police and tell the 911 operator that an African American man was threatening her life and that she needed the immediate help of the police. How could she have thought so quickly to try and weaponize the police force against a man of color who was speaking in a civil tone to her? Those incidents, along with the deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and Rayshard Brooks, in such a short time frame, were almost more that I could withstand. by Jack Clarke, Jr. How could this happen?
