We have had a fantastic Kooyong Classic with some of the greats of the game playing at Kooyong, our Club Championships have been played and we have had our planning application approved by Stonnington so there is much to bring to your attention. DOne of the highlights of summer was the very successful Priceline Pharmacy Kooyong Classic that attracted a very talented field including Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Richard Gasquet, Dominic Thiem, Lucas Pouille, Marcus Baghdatis, Kevin Anderson, David Goffin and Marin Cilic. The weather was kind and with such a strong field the attendances were nearly double that of last year. A special thank you to our partner IMG and our tournament director Peter Johnson who did such a splendid job and who were delighted to be able to boast that thirteen of the men and women who played in the Kooyong Classic went on to be first round winners at the Australian Open. The eventual winner of the men’s event was Pablo Carreno Busta beating Matt Ebden in three sets. The women’s event included our own Destanee Aiava, Eugenie Bouchard, Wang Xinyu and saw Andrea Petkovic dancing in the rain (worth a Google search) but it was not enough to beat eventual President’s winner Belinda Bencic who won the title in a match tiebreaker. The Club Championships were played in February and again there were a record number of players and the eventual Club Champions were first time winner Greg Jones and after ten years Sally Peers took out her second win. Lunch The Squash Club Champions for 2018 were Cam White and Christine Nunn. Christine was selected with another club member,
