Companion and Sir Knight D. Allen Surratt, Grand Secretary-Recorder, announced that there was a constitutional number present to open the Grand York Rite Masonic Bodies of North Carolina, after which Sir Knight Raymond B. Casey, Jr. led the devotion. After the Pledge to the Flag, Right Eminent Sir Knight Terry D. Pritt, Grand Commander of Knights Templar of North Carolina, declared the Grand Commandery duly convened for the transaction of such business that may come before the Grand Commandery in Joint Session. Most Excellent Thomas R. Jackson, Jr., Grand High Priest of the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of North Carolina declared the Grand Chapter duly convened for the transaction of such business that may come before the Grand Chapter in Joint Session. Most Illustrious James W. Howell, Grand Master of the Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters in North Carolina, declared the Grand Council duly convened for the transaction of such business that may come before the Grand Council in Joint Session. A motion was made by the Grand Secretary-Recorder that all distinguished visitors who were not already Honorary Members of the Grand York Rite Masonic Bodies of North Carolina, be made Honorary Members. The motion was seconded and duly carried. A motion was made, seconded and duly carried that the Memorial Service held in conjunction with the Divine Service be adopted as the Memorial Service for all of the members and distinguished dead for the past year. Distinguished guests and out-of-state visitors were asked to retire for the purpose of being introduced in the Joint Session of the Grand York Rite Masonic Bodies of North Carolina.
