Our ceremony today continues the tradition, begun more than two centuries ago, of convening the University community to honor our graduates and celebrate their many achievements in their time at UVM. Our graduates have much to be proud of as they stand among their peers today. Each one has reached for this education and for this moment of completion. Each graduate has strived for the learning, the knowledge, the new ways of seeing and perceiving that have come from immersive study in the living laboratory of UVM. In every way, the Class of 2018 has excelled, showing themselves to be leaders and learners in the long tradition of engaged citizenship for which UVM is known. Graduates, today we celebrate you—all that you have accomplished and all that is to come as you take this spirit of active and engaged learning out into the world. Each of you will forever be a part of the UVM community and will always be welcomed home here. I hope you will remain active in our community that you have so helped to shape in your time at UVM. Come back often. Congratulations to the Class of 2018!
