Hermione, Nickie, Rosie, Helene, Hostesses, Ensemble SCENE 11: THE PARK ANNIE YARBROUGH - Charity Our delightful Charity has made theater her life since the age of eight when she started taking dancing lessons. She has performed with virtually all of the groups in Santa Clara Valley, including Santa Clara Junior Theater, Ballet San Jose, Sunnyvale Community Players, Saratoga Drama Group, San Jose Civic Light Opera, Foothill College, Santa Clara University, and San Jose State where she is a Theater Arts Major. Versatile Annie is as much at home in the costume of a Dickens era Christmas caroller, Ermengarde, in "Hello, Doily", or dance hall hostess Charity. We are fortunate that Annie could find time in her busy schedule between school, work as a receptionist at Santa Clara University, and choreographing West Side Story for Leigh High School, to perform the leading role in this porduction. Annie hopes to be working in summer stock this year at the Barn Theater in Michigan. CINDy CUTLER - Helene A new-comer to West Valley Light Opera, Cindy's credits include the roles of Rosie in "Sweet Charity" and- Gymnasia in "Forum" for Theater Spectrum; Ramona in "Little Me" for Menlo Players Guild; the Mute in "The Fantasticks" for Palo Alto Players and her most challenging role of a horse in the West Coast premiere of "Strider" for Theatreworks in Palo Alto. We'll have to find out more about that one. Cindy's talents include choreographing "Music Man" for A Theatre Spectrum and costuming "The Fantasticks" for Palo Alto Players. In the real world, Cindy is a professional make-up artist and she lifts weights i~ her spare time. She confides that she is looking for the perfect man ...and is taking phone numbers. Good luck, Cindy! LESLIE LANE - Nickie Another first time performer with West Valley Light Opera, leslie comes to us with a strong theatrical background. She received her BA in Theatre at Long Beach State University and a "good fifteen years" of experience in musical comedy. Her favorite roles were Louisa in "The Fantasticks", Luce in "The Boys From Syracuse", Marta in "Company", and Adelaide in "Guys and Dolls". Leslie has also appeared in "The Desert Song", "Roar of the Greasepaint ...", "Sweet Charity", "No No, Nanette" and in the "Stowaways" aboard the Queen Mary in long Beach harbor. In her spare time, leslie enjoys pounding on her computer and pretending to jog. Leslie gives thanks to WVLO "for getting past my 13th musical", and we thank leslie for joining us. BILL WILKINSON - Oscar Bill, a resident of Almaden Valley, is back with West Valley Light" Opera, having previously performed with us as Gaylord Ravenal in "Showboat", and as one of the ensemble in "Some Enchanted Evening". He has also been seen as Herr Zeller in "Sound of Music" for Sunnyvale Community Players and in "Carousel" for Saratoga Drama Group. Bill's credits also list that of soloist for the Santa Clara Chorale, and . the San Jose Symphonic Band. Bill attended the University of Minnesota earning his degree in Economics, which has served him in good stead as a registered investment counsellor and financial planner. Between shows, Bill's hobbies of studying the stock market, music, golf, reading, tennis, and skiing keep him a busy man. LES DALE - Vittorio Vidal Our ever popular les is back with us again in the dual capacity of "leading man" and set designer. As Vidal, les is enjoying the development of a character quite different from his previous roles. Among his growing credits, he lists Wild Bill Hickok in "Annie Get Your Gun" with the Menlo Players Guild and Father in "life With Father" for Sunnyvale Conunun[ty Players. les has appeared in "The Student Prince", "wonderful Town", "Man of la Mancha", "My Fair lady", and as FDR in "Annie", Captain Andy in "Showboat", and Sir Osgood Fielding in "Sugar", all for WVlOA. We have daughter Julie, a member of our ensemble, to thank for exposing this talented performer to the wonderful world of theater. In fact, the Dales are making this production a family affair, with better-half (7), Elizabeth, as our Stage Manager. TAMMY NELSON - Hermione A preview performance of "Some Enchanted Evening", where a timid Tammy asked about auditions, was a lucky break for her and for WVlO, and Santa Clara Valley theater-goers. She auditioned and was instantly cast as Sweet Sue in "Sugar". Since then Tammy has been performing "non-stop"and has enjoyed every minute. She has appeared in "My Fair lady", "Dames At Sea", and "Irene" for WVlO, "Cinderella" with Saratoga Drama Group, and as Widow Courney in "Oliver" for San Jose Civic light Opera. Tammy has finally figured out how to "stymie" her nerves long enough to audition, but is still trying to learn when and how to rest. Since she enjoys theater, the people and the experience, we know she will accomplish her goal. We certainly hope she does and will keep returning to do more shows for us. MICHELLE JENEE - Ursala A native of San Jose, Michelle has been acting since the age of two, or so her mother claims. Actually, Michelle's earliest recollection of performing was in second grade, at the tender age of eight, when she was in a school production of "Pinocchio" - on roller skates.
