Mcreragher, chief Counsel SUMMARY OF SUBJECT MATTER TO: Members of the Subcommittee on Aviation FROM: Subcommittee on Aviation Staff SUBJECT: US Airways Flight 1549 Accident PURPOSE OF HEARING The Subcommittee will meet on Tuesday, February 24, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. in room 2167 Rayburn House Office Building to receive testimony on the US Airways Flight 1549 Accident. Background On January 15, 2009, US Airways Flight 1549 ditched' into the Hudson River at 3 3 0 approximately : p.m. following a double-engine failure while en route to Charlotte Douglas International Airport. There were 150 passengers onboard the Airbus A-320 (N106US), in addition to the following five flight crew: Captain Chesley "Sully" B. Sullenberger III, First Officer Jeffrey Skiles, and flight attendants Sheila Dail, Doreen Welsh, and
