In this framework, our main interest is both how diasporization impacts national identity (re)construc- tions and their relation to the state; and, how the settings of nation and state-building impact diaspo- rization. More specifically, can ‘diaspora’ be constructed to assist in a process of nation- and state-buil- ding. Our main focus therefore is the emergence of ‘diaspora’ in discursive constructions of sovereignty, authenticity and national resources, in the context of the interaction between the sending state, émigré communities and national identity-building. We seek to define in this paper an existent ‘Macedonian diaspora field’, its main actors, linkages and interactions, though the establishment and analysis of a web cartography. Through this cartography we seek to confirm several hypotheses about the interactions and the relative positioning of the different actors in the process of negotiation of ‘Macedonian diaspora’.
