The Nobel Prize in the Anglophone World MWF-9-10 Instructor: Brian Doherty 35795 Course Overview: Since 1901, the most prestigious international prize for literature has been the Nobel. Quite a few winners have come from the English-speaking world that at one time was considered to be part of the British Commonwealth. The survey of these writers and their concerns will bring us to five continents and into various historical and social terrains. Reading will consist of poetry, drama, novels and short stories, as well as non-fiction (notably the acceptance speeches of the authors covered.)
