The MRVP was introduced through Legal Notice no. 288 of 2015 which was recently supplemented with Legal Notice no. 189 of 2017. The MRVP allows for the grant of a certificate which entitles the main applicant and his or her registered dependents to reside, settle, or stay indefinitely in Malta. The certificate is monitored annually for the first five years, and then every five years thereafter, but may be withdrawn if any of the conditions (set out below) are breached.
