Page 1 of 57 Dear Teachers, Dancers, Family and Friends, Welcome to the 2019 Season at Tribute National Talent. As we celebrate our 8th season, we feel very blessed to host an event that gives us the opportunity to do what we love while spending time with so many wonderful people. We hope you feel very welcome and a part of our family as you enjoy seeing all the outstanding dancers who will grace the stage this weekend. As we grow older, we begin to see things in a different light and our thoughts and feelings seem to be more important and significant. Over the last several years I have written welcome letters that talk about what Tribute is all about. Now going into our 8th season, I just wanted to simply say THANK YOU. As parents, we cherish every moment we can spend with our kids as they grow. Dance teachers also feel this way since they are like family as they see the dancers grow up in the studio and then graduate. In 2010 after my father passed, I knew I had to make some changes in my life so I could be a better husband and father. My son was 7 years old and my daughter was 2 years old at the time. I remember that before I started Tribute, I missed so much time with my own family when I was gone on the road so often and then all summer doing nationals. As I share this picture with you of me and my children from 2014, I am reminded of how truly blessed I am. Seeing this picture reminds me of why I made a change and started Tribute, which has been one of the best decisions I could have ever made for my family. Before I know it, my kids will be all grown up and on their own, so we treasure our time together as we make memories along this journey. So, thank you for allowing me to have this time with a career that I love and for supporting our small family business. As you can see on page one of this program book, I wanted this year’s art to stand for something rather than just a cover with a logo. Images and pictures that we see can be very inspirational. With the scene of mountains and the sunset it makes you think of an old saying “Everyone wants to live on top of the mountain to see all of God’s beauty around them, but all of the happiness, growth and fond memories occur while you are climbing it”. This reminds us to work hard and to do our best to achieve our goals for the future, but most importantly to cherish every step you take and to find what really makes you happy as you climb your own mountain and follow your dreams. We can’t thank you enough for attending Tribute this weekend with so many events to choose from. On behalf of the Tribute Family, we hope you find your time with us enjoyable and as you leave you feel that your choice to attend was one you are pleased with. We will always do our part to focus on what we can do for others and how we can make a difference in the dance community. The Troglia Family Page 2 of 57 Minneapolis Regional Hopkins High School 2400 Lindbergh Drive Minnetonka, MN 55305 Important Information: 1) VERY IMPORTANT…for those who are responsible for delivering and setting up props: Due to limited storage space and specific rules from the venue to follow fire marshal rules, Props must be unloaded on a daily basis. Here is what is set in place to follow all rules that are enforced by the fire marshal. Please remember props for the entire weekend cannot be unloaded all at one time. Once a certain number of props are brought in we cannot exceed the limit on how many can be in the loadin area at one time. As always, the outside courtyard can be used as a building/unloading area as well. We understand that every prop trailer or truck is loaded differently. Just note that each studio attending received the exact order of their routines prior to this program book, and the order on that sheet corresponds with the program book and is very accurate. So if it is possible to load your trailer or truck accordingly this will help those responsible for prop delivery and setup. A) ON FRIDAY, Props can be unloaded after 4pm FOR FRIDAY AND SATURDAY ROUTINES ONLY. B) On SATURDAY we will have all Petite and Junior Groups so on this day props that are used for these routines can continue to be unloaded. During the day props that have already been used in routines can be removed. During Junior Solos and after all props have been removed for Saturday routines, props for Sunday can be brought in for the next day. C) On SUNDAY we will have all Teen and Senior Groups so on this day props that are used for these routines can continue to be unloaded. Please help in seeing that these rules are followed and if you have any questions please contact Darin at any time. 2) The High School will be providing a Café that will be open during our event with an excellent variety of food and drink. In addition, there is a commons area with tables and chairs for you to relax and eat as shown on the diagram. NO FOOD OR DRINK WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE AUDITORIUM AREA 3) Dressing rooms for Friday will be in the dining area only. Saturday and Sunday, we will also use the large gym that is near the entry to the auditorium. The gym will be an open area and easy for you to bring in racks that can be rolled in and some tables and chairs will be placed in the gym. The boys and mens dressing room will be located behind the stage area in a nice locker room. Page 3 of 57 LETTER FROM HOPKINS HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM MANAGEMENT Dear Dancers, Families and Friends, We look forward to welcoming you to Hopkins High School for the upcoming dance competition. A lot of people are coming and going during this and other events here and we want all of you to have the best possible experience. To accomplish that, we would like to make you aware of a few policies that have been put in place for all of our renters/users. Auditorium entrances: Please do not obstruct the doorways of the Auditorium. Watching the show near the doors or in the aisles is not allowed. Dancing in the hallways: Hopkins Public Schools, and especially Hopkins High School, always has multiple activities scheduled in the building on any given day/weekend. Each event is therefore sharing common spaces such as hallways, commons area (seating area) bathrooms and outdoor seating areas. In order to be respectful of all scheduled activities and its guests, we ask that groups NOT rehearse in the hallways. Please check with your host to find out if an area has been rented specifically as rehearsal space. No Food and Beverage (other than plain bottled water) in the Auditorium: Hopkins Public Schools is very proud of their facilities and we work hard to maintain them. We ask that each group using/renting our auditorium and their guests help us keep our facilities nice and be respectful of the no food and beverage policy in place. We have a large and convenient sitting area adjacent to the auditorium for eating. You can follow what is happening on stage by watching the monitors found near that sitting area and in the main hallways. We will have door monitors in place to help with directions and to remind you of our No Food and Beverage policy. Please respect that they are doing their job. We understand that many of you are in our building for long hours and therefore need to eat and hydrate at various times of the day. Please plan to do so in our commons area at a time that you don’t need to be in the auditorium watching or dancing. Parking – Very Important Hopkins High School has fabulous neighbors who put up with a lot of activity in and around the building. Please be respectful and park ONLY in authorized parking areas. On occasion it will be necessary to park a ways away and walk. Please be aware that Minnetonka Police have been known to ticket illegally parked vehicles in and around our buildings. Do not park in the fire lanes in front of the school as you will be towed..see diagram on next page Front parking lot: in front of school, right off Lindbergh Drive – enter through Door A. West parking lot: Pass through from the Front Lot to the West Lot, or: Coming from the east, go just past North Junior High School (on Cedar Lake Road) and turn right, drive all the way in to the parking lot on the west corner of Hopkins High School. Enter through Door A. Coming from the west, go to the light just west of North Junior High School (and just west of Eriks Bike Shop,) turn left and drive all the way in to the parking lot on the west corner of Hopkins High School. Miscellaneous: Please be respectful of the facilities and equipment you are using. Clean up behind yourself and remember to take all of your personal property with you when you leave.
