The purpose of this report is to inform Council and the community of recent issues, initiatives and projects undertaken across Council. During December 2020 and January 2021, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) participated in a number of events, meetings and discussions about a range of matters relevant to Hobsons Bay and the local government sector. Many of the events and meetings attended by the CEO during this period were related to regional initiatives and collaboration such as: • a regular meeting with the Chief Executive Officers from the West Gate Tunnel Project – Major Transport Infrastructure Authority, Transurban and Maribyrnong City Council to discuss key issues affecting our communities as a result of the West Gate Tunnel Project; • attendance at a meeting with the Hon Minister Melissa Horne MP together with Mayor Cr Jonathon Marsden, Cr Pamela Sutton-Legaud, Cr Peter Hemphill and Director Infrastructure and City Services to discuss the Ferguson Street level crossing; and • a meeting with LXRP Program Director Tony Hedley to discuss Council’s Aviation Road Laverton and Ferguson Street Williamstown Level Crossing Precinct Plans. Tony Hedley also provided an update on the Ferguson Street timeframes for the construction. A requirement for a workshop with the Council to work through pedestrian access, the station building and all modes of transport was discussed. This led to a subsequent workshop which I attended with Councillors in mid-January.
