The league will distribute a weekly release on Wednesdays. RAISE THE SAIL 1 2018 NAVY men's soccer Coaching Staff Tim O’Donohue enters his third season as Navy’s head men’s soccer coach in 2018. O’Donohue enters the 2018 season with the 25th-highest all-time NCAA winning percentage across all divisions at .764 (172-43-29). O’Donohue is the sixth head coach in the 98-year history of the Navy men’s soccer program. He is 7-22-6 (.286) in two seasons at Navy. Prior to arriving at Navy, O’Donohue spent five seasons (2011-2015) as the associate head coach at the University of Con- necticut and 10 seasons (2001-10) as the head coach at Division III Stevens Institute of Technology. In his second season at Navy in 2017, the Midshipmen battled rival Army West Point to a 0-0 double-overtime draw in the Star Game and Army-Navy Cup VI, which was played in front of 8,143 fans at Talen Energy Stadium in Chester, Pa. The Army-Navy game was the third-highest attended college men’s soccer game in 2017. As a team, Navy ranked first in the Patriot League and eighth in the NCAA in saves per game (5.47) in 2017, and senior goalkeeper Mac Burke ranked sixth in the country in saves per game (5.41) and eighth in total saves (92). Navy was 2-13-2 (0-7-2 PL) in 2017. Tim O’Donohue Despite having less than two months to prepare for Navy’s 2016 season opener when he was hired, O’Donohue’s first team showed great potential for his program in the coming years, and was resilient, spirited and composed. Navy also was ranked fifth in the NSCAA Northeast Region Poll on Sept. 6, 2016 after a 1-1-1 start to the season. O’Donohue at a Glance High School Wallkill Valley (N.J.) College Muhlenberg (1998) Brock Dudley was named to the All-Patriot League Second Team in 2016, while Sam Bascom was named to the All-Patriot B.S. Degree English League Third Team. Goalkeeper Mac Burke led the Patriot League in goals-against average (1.05). Coaching Experience Prior to his arrival at Navy, O’Donohue spent five years at UConn on Ray Reid’s staff, and helped take the Huskies to the 2000 Stevens, Assistant Coach NCAA Tournament four times, including three straight appearances in the NCAA Quarterfinals from 2011-13. The Huskies 2001-2010 Stevens, Head Coach had an overall record of 68-22-21 (.707) during O’Donohue’s tenure in Storrs. 2011-16 UConn, Associate Head Coach 2016-present Navy, Head Coach In his first season at UConn in 2011, the Huskies went 19-3-3 and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals and then followed Conference Coach of the Year (2) that season with a 17-4-1 record in 2012 with another trip to the NCAA Quarterfinals. The Huskies made their third straight 2003, 2010 quarterfinals appearance in 2013 with a 12-3-8 mark. NSCAA Region Coach of the Year (1) In his final season at UConn in 2015, O’Donohoe helped the squad to a 10-6-6 mark and an appearance in the NCAA 2003 (All-Metro) Second Round after defeating Boston University in the first round. Conference Championships (9) O’Donohue had an overall record of 165-21-23 at Stevens and his winning percentage of .844 was the highest in NCAA 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, Division III history when he left Stevens to serve as the associate head coach at UConn. 2009, 2010 NCAA Tournament Appearances (9) O’Donohue took Stevens to the NCAA Tournament in nine of his 10 seasons.
