HENRY CLAY TO JOHN S. EICHARDS, ESQ., of Reading, Penna., proprietor of the Berks & Schuylkill Journal, the local Whig organ. The Mr. Banks referred to in the letter was the Hon. John Banks, who served in Congress with Mr. Clay, and was the Whig candidate for Governor of Pennsylvania in 1841.
