These No Turn on Red restrictions within these High Injury Network Streets support the Vision Zero Policy by reducing pedestrian and turning vehicle conflicts, which results in lower pedestrian collision rates and protects vulnerable roadway users. This proposal has minimal impact to Muni due to existing transit-only lanes; it has minimal impact to traffic during peak hours, when pedestrian volumes will be the highest, due to gridlock and oversaturation prevalent in the downtown core.
