intimate & live uk tour The spotlight tonight is firmly set on one of the UK’s best male vocal and songwriting talents of the last decade. As the resounding winner of The X Factor’s highest rating series ever in 2010, Matt Cardle stunned over 19.1 million viewers with his breathtaking four-octave vocal range. Matt historically won the public vote every week, with the exception of the first, and had the honour of dueting with international female superstar Rihanna for the live final. Brit Award nominee Matt has since gone on to sell over 2.2 million records in the UK alone including a number of hit singles; #1 When We Collide, #6 Run For Your Life, #10 Loving You and the beautiful The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face. These songs were taken from Matt’s three multi-platinum top 10 selling- albums; Letters (2011), The Fire (2012) and Porcelain (2013). In addition to his acclaimed output as a solo artist, Matt has also shown a keen intuition for collaboration; from his top 10 hit ‘Loving You’ with pop royalty Melanie C, his live performances with double MOBO award-winning Saxophonist YolanDa Brown to his forthcoming summer festival dates with the legendary Trevor Horn. Performing is what I enjoy best and your continued support & faith means the world to me. Joining me on stage this evening is the incredible Tom Peters (drums) and Paul Bullen (keys). They have been my band members, and more importantly friends, long before I stepped onto live TV. It gives me so much joy that they continue to join me on my journey. Last year I found myself enjoying every moment of a four-month residency on the West End stage. An experience I never thought I’d undertake but one that I shall never forget. I’ve taken my time recording my fourth album and I’ve found this to be very rewarding for me personally. During the recording process I’ve worked with some incredible producers including Ben Adams, Ian Barter, John Beck, Jim Eliot, Aaron Horn, Dan McDougall and Dimitri Tokovoi. I’m excited to be bringing some of those new songs to life tonight. With my previous albums I’ve always toured them after their release. As an artist I’ve realised afterwards that I would have originally recorded the songs differently had I performed them in front of an audience first. Luckily I’ve had the luxury of time for this one and I look forward to your reactions tonight before heading back into the studio to finish the album off.
