Bob Dole (R-Kan.) today hosted a luncheon in honor of Albert B. 11 Ab ... Hermann, former Republican National Committee executive director a·nd longtime Republican organizer. Hermann is a native of New Jersey. He was : a graduate of Colgate University~ where he was named an All-America athlete in two sports and was president of his class. His athletic career continued after graduation, as he played professional baseball for nine years with the Boston Braves, under coach Casey Stengel. Upon retirement from baseball, Hermann became active in the political arena, organizing the Young Republfcans in New Jersey, where he ran 13 successful statewide campaigns for governors and U.S. senators. He joined the staff of the Republican National Committee in 1949 and served as executive director, campaign manager, director of the Speakers Bureau and counsellor to the chairman. For his continued and· constant support of Republican causes, he became known as a "Man for all Seasons.n Present and former Republican N~tiona1 . Miller (1961-1964), Thruston Morton (1959-1961), Meade Alcorn (1957-1959), Leonard W. Hall (1953-1957), I . Hugh Scott (1948-1949) and Herbert Brownell Jr. (1944~1946). The only one unable to attend because of other commitments is Rogers C.B. Morton, chairman from 1969-1971.
