We are pleased to inform you that the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi, has entrusted the responsibility of organizing the All India Inter-University Cross Country Championship for Men and Women for the year 2015-16 to Mangalore University, Mangalore, Karnataka and we are hosting the championship on 11th October 2015 at Alva's College, Moodabidri -574227, Dakshina Kannada District, Karnataka. On behalf of Prof. K. Byrappa, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University and the Organizing committee, I extend a warm welcome to all the Universities affiliated to AIU to participate in the above event. Detailed Information of All India Inter-University Cross country Championship for Men and Women 2015-16 1. Venue of the Competition The competition will be held at Alva’s College, Vidyagiri Campus, Moodabidri, Dakshina Kannada District, Karnataka, an affiliated college of Mangalore University, situated about 32 Kilometres from Mangalore Railway station and Mangalore City. 2. Date of the Competition: The All India Inter-University Cross Country Championship for Men and Women will be held 11th October 2015. (Reporting date is 10th, October 2015) 3. How to reach the venue: a) Teams arriving by train: Teams arriving by train to Mangalore have to alight at the Mangalore City Railway Station terminus or Mangalore Junction. The Service Bus Stop (Near State Bank) is located just outside the Mangalore Central Railway Station. Get into the Services buses towards Moodabidri, Karkala. The bus fare from the city is Rs.37/- per head. The taxi charges to the venue is about Rs.900/-. Teams getting down at Mangalore Junction can proceed by Auto to Bunts Hostel Circle Bus Stop and get into the above mentioned buses. b) Teams arriving by buses: Teams arriving by buses can get down at the Jyothi or Hampankatta Bus stops to get into the Service bus moving towards Moodabidri-Karkala. Buses are available from morning 6.00 a.m. to night 8.30 p.m. 4. Reception: There will be a Reception Counter near the Main Gate of the Railway Station. Reception starts functioning from 9th October, 2015 by 6.00 a.m. Teams arriving from other times can contact the following official of the College to get accommodation. Mr. Shalvandran 09740468385, 09449616185 5. Accommodation: The teams will be provided with unfurnished rooms/Halls for their stay during the days of competitions. We have very limited lodging facilities; hence the teams are requested to arrive at the venue of the tournament a day before and to leave the venue within 24 hours of completion of their competition. The decisions of the officials shall be final and binding. Protests if any shall be decided by the jury of Appeal formed as prescribed by the AIU and consists of the following members: The Vice-Chancellor, Mangalore University/Chairman of the Organizing Committee The Organizing Secretary, AIU Cross Country Race One International Sports Person of the locality AIU Observer. One nominated member. 7. Requirements for the competition: a) Your University Flag b) Identification Cards of the athletes and four copies of the Eligibility Proforma duly typed and signed by the competent Authority c) All the competitors should produce photo copy of the pass certificate of +2 examination, Date of birth certificate and in case of PG students, the pass certificate of the degree course, duly attested by the Director of Physical Education/Secretary Sports Board/Council/Sports Officer/Registrar of the concern University along with their eligibility certificate. d) The previous period of participation of any athlete from any University should necessarily be considered at the time of his/her, fresh/current participation in order to avoid any wrong claim . The academic qualification of such player will be accepted only from that particular University from which he/she participated in Inter- University competitions earlier. e) A caution deposit of Rs.1000/- for team, which will be returned to the teams while leaving the campus. f) Officiating charges Rs.1000/- per team to be given to the concerned officials while reporting for the competition. g) Competitors should report to the race with proper sportswear well in advance. h) A medical fitness certificate is compulsory for the runners. i) Managers are requested to submit quadruplicate copies of the Eligibility Performa unless attested by the competent authority. h) Barefoot running is not allowed. 8. Return Journey reservations: The teams are requested to look after the travel arrangements themselves. The return journey reservations, if any, should be booked at Mangalore City itself. No such facility is available at the venue of the tournament. 9. Manager’s Meeting and Showing/briefing the route for race: There will be a Manager’s Meeting on 10th October, 2015 at 11.30 A.M. at Alva’s College, Moodabidri. Route of the cross country race will be shown to the participants on 10th October 2015 from 4.00pm to 6.00pm. 10. Precautions to be taken by the Team Managers: a) It is better to bring Mosquito Nets or any other form of mosquito repellents for the safety of the teams. b) Unfurnished rooms will be given as accommodation. Kindly instruct your athletes to bring proper beddings. c) Swimming in the beaches of Mangalore City area is dangerous to life. Kindly see that your athletes do not swim in the beaches if you visit the same. 11. Places of sightseeing around Mangalore : a) Dharmasthala is famous for Lord Shri Manjunatha’s Temple, is about 2 hours journey from the Moodabidri (65 K.M. from Moodabidri). b) Udupi is famous for Lord Krishna’s Temple, is about 2 hours journey from the venue. c) Kollur is famous for Lord Mookambika Temple, is about 4 hours journey from the venue (110 K.M. from Moodabidri). d) Subrahmanya is famous for Lord Subrahmanya Temple, is about 4 hours journey from the venue (100 K.M. from Moodabidri). e) One of the major ports of India is located near Panambur with a nice beach to spend time in the evening. f) Thousand Pillar Basadi is the other famous place to visit at Moodabidri. The weather condition at Moodabidri is warm and humid. So light clothing and bedding is sufficient for your stay. We wish your team better time and comfort during your stay at Moodabidri.
