We couldn’t be more excited about hosting • MU Libraries the 37th Annual Appalachian Studies Conference here at Marshall • College of Arts and Media University in Huntington, West Virginia. You may already have • Online College Courses in the High Schools [OCCHS] heard about program highlights featuring our conference • MU Women’s Center theme—“New Appalachia: Known Realities and Imagined • Office of Intercultural Affairs and Center for African Possibilities”—including a keynote presentation by Silas House American Students and not one, but three, plenary sessions featuring innovative • College of Education and Professional Development Appalachian studies work in the arts, activism, and scholarship! Graduate Program And that’s not all. Our “New Appalachian Voices” concert features Ron Sowell (of Mountain Stage fame) and other Appalachian Appalachian Regional Commission musicians—some seasoned and some very young; cutting edge West Virginia Humanities Council independent Appalachian films will be screened in conference Heritage Farm Museum & Village sessions as well as on Friday and Saturday evening; and a Stroll, Berea College Sip, and Shop event in downtown Huntington includes many University of Kentucky Appalachian Center locally owned businesses and two local art exhibits, which Sinclair Community College are opening this week-end!
