She received her early training at the Victoria Conservatory, where she took her diploma in Teacher Training with Winifred Scott Wood. Ms. Attrot went on to complete her Bachelor of Music at the University of Victoria with Bruce Vogt and followed up with a Master of Music degree in performance from the University of Western Ontario where she studied with Dr. Damjana Bratuz and Ronald Turini. As a graduate student and post-graduation, Rita specialized in Accompanying and Chamber Music. Ms. Attrot held the position of Staff Accompanist at Acadia University in Nova Scotia for 9 years, worked as a free-lance accompanist for instrumentalists and singers in Toronto, and served as a coach and repetiteur at the University of Toronto Opera School. She has collaborated with: violinist Mishan Han- releasing a CD from a live performance at the Glenn Gould Studio, pianist Lynn Johnson- performing piano duo and two-piano recitals in the Maritime Provinces, the Appassionata Trio and the Erato Ensemble- serving as principal pianist in concerts throughout Vancouver, Victoria and the Lower Mainland. Above all, Rita is passionate about working with vocalists and can be heard in recital performing innovative programs of great song literature with frequent collaborator, soprano- Catherine Laub. Ms. Attrot is Head of the Piano Department at the British Columbia Conservatory of Music in Burnaby, where she has many students and teaches the Piano Pedagogy course. In her spare time, she enjoys watercolour painting, gardening, rollerblading, and snowshoeing. Mary Ann Cayetano – Piano Mary Ann Cayetano received her music degree from the University of British Columbia and has also studied the Suzuki Piano Method and the Kelly Kirby Method. In addition to receiving training from the Vancouver Academy of Music, Mary Ann performed in many master classes and studied with Dr. Henri- Paul Sicsic, Dr. Eugene Skovorodnikov, Dr. Harold Zabrack, Mr. Lee Kum Sing and Mr. Edward Parker. She holds a Piano Performance Associate Diploma and a Teachers Associate Diploma from the RoyalConservatory of Music and has been a recipient of many scholarships and awards throughout the years. Mary Ann is an active member of the BC Registered Music Teachers Association (BCRMTA). Positions held with the BCRMTA include President of the BCRMTA, Richmond Chapter, Provincial Delegate and Executive Board Member, BCRMTA Richmond Chapter. In addition, she was a Board of Director of the Northwest International Piano Ensemble Competition. Also an active accompanist for choirs, Mary Ann conducted the St. Monica Youth Choir in which she received a Papal Service Award for her work. Mary Ann is a piano examiner, adjudicator, and piano clinician. Her students have received numerous scholarships and awards through the years including Gold medals awarded by the Royal Conservatory of Music for receiving the highest marks in the Province for their RCM Piano exams. She conducts piano master classes in the Lower Mainland including the British Columbia Conservatory of Music. Mary Ann works in various capacities as a performer and is an active piano, music theory, and history teacher. Calvin Dyck – Violin Music for Calvin is a passion, a profession and a pleasure. He started his musical training on the accordion at age 5. His violin training began when he was 8. Following the completion of his A.R.C.T. in 1981, he went on to study at Biola University and the University of Southern California where, in 1991, he received his Doctorate of Musical Arts in Violin Performance. Calvin has travelled around the world with various musical ensembles and enjoys a wide variety of engagements, including playing for musicals, movies, weddings, films and recording sessions. Currently, Calvin is the concertmaster for the Vancouver Island Symphony in Nanaimo, and director of the Abbotsford Youth Orchestra. Calvin has taught at Scripps College and Biola University in California and at Kwantlen Polytechnic University and Trinity Western University in British Columbia. Calvin has released four recordings: Meditation, This Shining Night, One Small Child and the Dancing Violin. They were produced by, and benefit “Communitas Supportive Care”, which provides care and services to people with disabilities. Calvin lives in Abbotsford with his wife, Heather, and their two children, Christine and Andrew. Besides making music, he enjoys gardening, reading and travelling. Adjudicators Jane Hayes – Piano Since her debut with the Toronto Symphony, Dr. Jane Hayes’ concerts have taken her across Canada, the United States and Europe. She can be heard frequently on CBC Radio and has recordings available on the Fanfare, EMI, Centrediscs, ATMA, Artifact, CBC-Musica Viva and CBC SM5000 labels. As a performer and teacher, Jane has been noted for her involvement in making contemporary music accessible to audiences, students and teachers. To that end, Jane has premiered many new works written for her and for her two-piano Yarilo Ensemble. She is a featured artist on five CDs devoted to the music of Canadian composers including Remember Your Power (the music of John Burke), Expressivity (solo piano music of Christopher Ludwig), and Far Other Worlds (the music of Euphrosyne Keefer). Her performing edition and CD of Barbara Pentland’s Early Piano works was published by Avondale Press in 2010. Jane enjoys a busy performing schedule. In addition to being a founding member of Vancouver’s Turning Point ensemble and the Yarilo Ensemble, she is a regular partner of clarinetist Francois Houle, appearing in recitals and workshops throughout Canada. This season, she will concertize in Switzerland, Bulgaria, Russia, Spain, and Mexico with programs celebrating the 100th anniversary of Alexander Scriabin and Latin-inspired music for clarinet and piano. Two CDs are also due for release, both featuring her work with Francois Houle. Jane is currently Director of Keyboard Studies at KPU and was awarded Honorary Life Member status in 2011 for her work in the Canadian Music Festival Adjudicators’ Association. Noel McRobbie – Piano Born in Winnipeg, Canada, pianist Dr. Noel McRobbie first received national attention after receiving top prize at the Eckhardt-Grammatté Piano Competition. In addition, he has received prizes at the CBC Début Concert Artist Series, Grand Konzerteum International Piano Competition, Seiler International Piano Competition, and the University of Michigan Concerto Competition. Mr. McRobbie’s solo performances include the Steinway Series at the University of South Florida, Vancouver Chopin Society, Eastport Arts Centre in Maine, Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest, Kumho Art Hall in Seoul, and a recital for the Asian Composers League at Sejong Chamber Hall in Seoul.
