SCHOLARSHIPS: April 24, 2020 Name: Washington State Opportunity Scholarship Career & Technical Scholarship Award: Up to $1,500/quarter Deadline: Multiple Deadlines The Career and Technical Scholarship (CTS) supports Washington students on their path to high-demand trade, STEM and health care occupations. To be eligible, scholars must enroll in an approved program, such as welding, manufacturing or IT, at one of Washington’s 34 community and technical colleges. Scholars are eligible to receive up to $1,500 each quarter for the duration of their associate degree, certificate or apprenticeship program. Scholars that intend to earn their bachelor's degree after the completion of their program are not eligible for CTS and are instead encouraged to review the Baccalaureate Scholarship. These scholarship funds are flexible and can be used to cover tuition, fees and other costs of attendance such as housing, transportation, food and more. Dedication, ambition, love, eagerness, vision, resourcefulness, and the ability to work for the benefits of others are but a few of the characteristics that reflect the nature of Ed Troxel and the recipients of this award. Each applicant will: 1. Be a member of a graduating class from Kennewick, Kamiakin, or Southridge High Schools. 2. Have been involved in high school athletics. 3. Verify academic achievement by submitting a photocopy of transcripts for the last seven semesters. 4. Show involvement in the community and/or school including leadership qualities. 5. The money can be used to cover expenses while you’re enrolled in college such as tuition, food, housing, books, etc! Last year, 200 high school seniors were awarded the scholarship. Stimpson Aviation Excellence Award Awarded to a graduating U.S. high school senior who has been accepted to and will be enrolled in an aviation degree core program at their chosen college/university. Eligibility Criteria: 1. Be a current student at a U.S. high school, graduating in the spring of 2020; 2. Be accepted to and enrolling in an institution for an aviation-related degree program (e.g., flight training, aviation management, aerospace engineering, aviation maintenance); and 3. In addition, two (2) $2,500 scholarships will also be awarded to Washington State high school seniors who are an employee of a WSADA-member dealership, or an immediate family member of a WSADA-member dealership employee.
