Bulgarian Red cross Water lifesaving service Prevention: Programs in service "Keep an eye on" The GOAL is for parents to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for safe contact with water, ways to assist in water accidents. Program helps parents to understand the nesesery to always be ONE HAND AWAY by their children. It enables parents to engage actively in the learning process. The pilot program was implemented in the cities of Ivailovgrad, Sliven and Haskovo. The parents of 68 children were involved. "friends with water" In 2017, the program was integrated into the curricula of the primery schools.Ppermanent partner in its realization will be the BRC Water Safety Departament. Since 2017/18, the program has been phased in in the curriculum of the Ministry of Education and Science for Physical Education classes. Ahtopol & Tsarevo Cities in the southeastern part of the country, on the Black Sea coast, with many unprotected beaches. Smolyan sity High mountain town in the southern part of Bulgaria. It has great concentration of dams and rivers. The training was done using the method "Peer education peers" under the supervision of experts from the Bulgarian Red Cross water safety departement. Kardzhali sity A town in the southeastern part of the country with large concentration of minority population. In close proximity to the sity is the third largest lake in Bulgaria and many deep water rivers Yambol A city with concentration of people from minority groups, poorly educated and with low swimming culture. There are a number of irrigation channels and micro dams in the area. Summary: Over the past year, serious progress has been made in that, prevention programs to get sustainable and underpinned by compulsory school curricula in the country. The number of students trained through the program increased to8 636. Observation of safety of a child in and around water areas is of primary importance to every family! Razlog & Sapareva banya Razlog is a town in Razlog Municipality, Blagoevgrad Province in southwestern Bulgaria. It is situated in the Razlog Valley. Nature is the greatest asset of Razlog valley. North of the town is the kingdom of the Rila National Park. Sapareva Banya (5.000 inhabitants) is located at the north foot of the Rila mountain. The town is known for its hot mineral (103 oC) and clear mountain water, as well and the only active Geyser in the Balkans. The history of Sapareva Banya has always been linked to the mineral water resources. "blue summer" The program is a practical focus. In 2017in the program ware implemented 560 children, acquiring elementary swimming skills, familiarization of the dangers in and around the various water basins and ways to support and self-help in water incident.. The main district centers which have been established over the last year for implementing the program are Yambol, Kyustendil, Blagoevgrad, Haskovo and Sofia region. To them in 2017 joined Burgas, Varna and Smolyan. Training of tutors During the year several meetings were held, with the support of the Regional Education Inspectorates of the Ministry of Education. Experts from the BRC Water safety departament and teachers from primary schools in all 28 regional cities of the country met each other. In April, a national meeting with pedagogues and students from all over the country took place in Harmanli, where the Bulgarian Red Cross and the Ministry of Education jointly presented the program "Friends with Water" to the audience. Home of cinema At the initiative of the Bulgarian Red Cross, an agreement was reached with the Cinema House in Sofia, according to which films on water safety will be screened every Thursday before the start of the screenings. "water & art" plener The National Training Center (NTC) BRC in the city of Sozopol has been conducted initiative of the Water Life Saving Service and the Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski "- art workshop" Water and art. ". Within a week 14 students from specialty "Fine Arts" with good art skills, studying graphic design created over 30 themed art paintings that were donated to the BRC. The paints will be donate for charity auction. All participants passed training Water Life Saving Minimum - the basic rules of water safety, assistance and self- help in water accidents and first aid. "Junior lifesaver" water safety tournaments Blagoevgrad In 2017 the first water lifesaving tournament for Southwestern Bulgaria was held, organized by the Bulgarian Red Cross - Blagoevgrad, under the patronage of the Mayor of Blagoevgrad Municipality. There were 15 teams with 146 participants from swimming clubs - Blagoevgrad, Sandanski, Sofia, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Smolyan, Sevlievo, Sapareva Banya, Academy of the Ministry of Interior and National Sports Academy. Veliko Tarnovo In the XVI National water lifesaving tournament, 138 participants was involved and divided into six age groups, included in 12 teams : two from the Veliko Tarnovo, two from Varna, teams from Bourgas, Sevlievo, Vratsa, Blagoevgrad and Pavlikeni, 3 teams from Sofia. Varna In August the National water lifesaving tournament "Junior lifesaver" took place in Varna. Participation was made by 136 competitors from different age groups, included in 15 teams. Sport camp "Lifesaver on the future" In the third edition of the "Lifesaver of the Future" camp took part 23 young men and women (ranked from first to third place) on "Junior lifesaver" tournaments within 2017. The goal is children to recognize the profession of lifeguards as its human cause. To infuse the ranks of volunteering, sharing knowledge and skills to enhance the safety culture in and around water areas among peers and friends. up coming events in 2018 Extending the scope of training on the drowning prevention, involving about 15,000 children through the 3th classes of primary schools in the country. Multiplication of the "Keep an eye on" program in more kindergartens across the country. Familiarize parents with the children's water safety rules, anonse around 280 parents of kids how and why they have to "be one hand away" from the child around water! Conducting extracurricular training sessions - water holidays, summer schools, lectures. Try to involve over of 4,000 children and adolescents. Organization of seminars and trainings of teachers, water rescue instructors - volunteers of the Bulgarian Red Cross for the realization of the planned activities and events. Organizing during the 2018 four water lifesaving tournaments with the participation of over 500 children and young people.
