The concert at New York’s Carn- egie Hall on Nov. 29, 1957 featured the Thelonious Monk Quartet with John Coltrane, and was recorded by Voice of America for an overseas ra- dio broadcast. The tapes were poorly labeled, stored away and unheard until January 2005, when they were located at the Library of Congress in Wash- ington, D.C. The 51-minute record- ing of the concert, Thelonious Monk Quartet with John Coltrane at Carne- gie Hall, will be released by Blue Note Records in conjunction with Theloni- ous Records on Sept. 27, 2005.
