FINCH WEST LIGHT RAIL TRANSIT (LRT) Information as of March 2019 Pipeline Replacement for the Finch West Light Rail Transit (LRT) The Finch West Light Rail Transit (LRT) is an 11km LRT running along Finch Avenue West between Keele Street and Humber College North Campus. The Finch West LRT will increase capacity and reliability of service along the route, while significantly reducing travel times for transit users on the corridor. What: As part of this project, Imperial, Trans-Northern and Sun-Canadian will be replacing pipelines crossing the Finch West LRT Guideway. Why: To accommodate the construction of the new Finch West LRT. When: The work started May 21, 2018 and is expected be complete by end of July 2019. Some work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions and unforeseen circumstances. Where: The work will take place on Finch Avenue West, 135m West of Signet Drive. There will be a partial lane closure on Finch Avenue West for the duration of the work. Transit Information For the safety of transit riders, TTC bus stops in the affected area may be relocated. If required, additional signage directing pedestrians will also be installed. Pedestrian and Traffic Details During construction, lane reduction is required. We do not anticipate full road closures. Driveways will remain accessible to residents. Please take care when travelling near construction areas. Pedestrian walkways will remain open. Please watch for additional signs directing pedestrians, as detours may be required. Due to the current volume of traffic in this area, traffic delays are expected during construction. Signage will be posted in affected and surrounding areas to indicate partial lane closures and traffic delays. We appreciate the patience of our neighbours and others within the community. We will endeavour to minimize the impact of the partial lane closure and noise from construction. Work Hours The work will be carried out between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., 6 days a week in accordance with City of Toronto bylaws. There is a possibility that some of this work will be done overnight (24 hours).
