PS#3 Resolution

PS#3 Resolution

Photoshop Project #3 Image Resolution and Image Size OBJ: Demonstrate knowledge of image size and resolution for different uses. (Adobe Certified Associate exam obj 2.1) In this project you will prepare three different images for three different uses. One you’ll prepare for use on the web, another you’ll prepare for use in print, and the third one you’ll prepare for our morning announcements. Definition: Resolution is the term used to describe the number of dots or pixels, used to display an image. PPI (pixels per inch) refers to screen resolution, DPI (dots per inch) refers to print resolution. A higher resolution means that more pixels are used to create the image, resulting in a crisper, cleaner image. As still images Depending how your image will be displayed, different resolutions are needed. For print work 200-300 DPI/PPI (300 PPI is preferred) For web (screens) 72 DPI/PPI For video The display, or resolution on a monitor, is composed of thousands of pixels. This display is indicated by a number combination, such as 800 x 600. This indicates that there are 800 pixels horizontally across the monitor, by 600 lines of pixels vertically, equaling 480,000 dots that make up the image you see on the screen. For video you need to consider the image size which will vary on which standard your audience is using. For VGA or NTSC (US, Canada, Mexico) use 640x480 For PAL or SECAM (Much of Europe & Africa) use 720x576 For HD720 use 1280x720 For HD1080 use 1920x1080 In this project you will crop a given image to: (1) Open image #1 in Photoshop (not Camera Raw) and resize the image as a 8x12 image for the web. (2) Open image #2 in Photoshop and resize the image as an 8x12 for print (magazine or personal). (3) Open image #3 in Photoshop and resize the image to 640x480. Resave the images with your period, your name, PS3, and web/print/VGA. Put both new, resized images in the drop box For video set width and height by actual pixel count. For print or web set width and height as well as the resolution. .
