Volpago Electrical Substation and Restructuring of the Grid Between

Volpago Electrical Substation and restructuring of the grid between Treviso and Venice: Terna meets with residents in Volpago and Scorzè on 13 and 14 December, respectively Two full days of meetings planned, from 10:00 to 20:00, to inform the local community about the region’s electricity requirements and the solutions planned to modernise the current network Rome, 11 December 2017 – Terna, the operator of the Italian electricity grid, is organising two public open days, Wednesday 13 December in Volpago del Montello and Thursday 14 December in Scorzè, in order to outline the redevelopment works required on the electricity grid between Treviso and Venice. The public presentation will be held from 10:00 to 20:00 at the municipality buildings. After meeting with the municipalities affected by the works – Volpago del Montello, Scorzè, Ponzano Veneto, Trevignano, Povegliano, Paese – Terna is going to meet with local communities to ensure the scope of the work is illustrated as clearly as possible. These two days will also provide an opportunity to collect the local populations’ thoughts and ideas which will be carefully assessed as part of an open forum for everyone affected by the project, prior to its authorisation. To reiterate: the plan is not to construct a new power line, but rather an electrical substation at Volpago del Montello and redevelopment of the connected grid, bringing it from 132 kV to 220 kV. Furthermore, the planned works also include an important project designed to rationalise and modernise the existing electricity grid, which will have positive impacts on the surrounding landscape and environment. To facilitate the connection with the new electrical substation at Volpago, around 25 km of underground cable will be installed, with zero environmental impact. The redevelopment project includes the removal of more than 20 km of old power lines (with 6 km at Volpago del Montello), almost all of which are located close to residential areas, and will rid affected communities of a considerable number of pylons. .
