He will also hold discussions with President Mahmoud Abbas and reaffirm India‟s support for the Palestinian people and the development of the state. PM Modi will be the first Indian prime minister to visit Palestine. India is also the first non-Arab nation to recognise Palestine and maintains diplomatic relationships with them. PM NARENDRAMODI LAID THE FOUNDATION STONE FOR THE FIRST HINDU TEMPLE IN ABU DHABI. Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially laid the foundation stone for the first Hindu temple in UAE. This is the first stone temple to be built in Abu Dhabi off Dubai-Abu Dhabi highway. It will be completed by 2020, and open to people of all religious backgrounds. The 2.8 kilometre (1.74 miles) zipline, spanning the equivalent of 28 soccer fields, was certified this week by the Guinness World Records. The zip line can handle as many as 100,000 people a year, and though there are no age restrictions. It is the second country to set up its consulate general in the Indian subcontinent after Bangladesh. The event coincided with the 50th anniversary of the Bhutan-India relationship. Bhutanese foreign minister Damcho Dorji and Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal opened the consulate in the presence of Bhutanese PM TsheringTobgay. Dorji announced a Bhutan-Guwahati-Singapore flight service would be launched WORLD‘S TALLEST HOTEL SET TO OPEN IN DUBAI Gulf metropolis Dubai, on its never-ending quest to break records, announced the opening of the “world‟s new tallest hotel”. The gleaming gold 75-storey Gevora Hotel stands 356 metres, or nearly a quarter of a mile, tall. The state Xinhua news agency said the test area is being constructed off the southern port city of Zhuhai bordering Macau. THREE DAY MUNICH SECURITY CONFERENCE HELD AT GERMANY The Munich Security Conference, in its 54th edition, began in Munich, Germany, amidst strict security measures for more than 4,000 security personnel. Three day conference held from 16th Feb to 18th Feb 2018. The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterich, began the session. SAUDI WOMEN CAN NOW START THEIR OWN BUSINESS WITHOUT MALE PERMISSION. Women in Saudi Arabia can now open their own businesses without the consent of a husband or male relative. The policy change, announced by the Saudi government also marks a major step away from the strict guardianship system that has ruled the country for decades. Sharma Oli headed left alliance won the majority of seats in elections conducted in 2017 to elect 275 members of the “4th house of representatives”. K.P. Sharma Oli 1. Sworn in as PM for Second time. 2. Served as PM in 2015-16 for 1st time. 3. Belonged to party CPN-UML 4. His party secured 121 in 275 seats. CYRIL RAMAPHOSA WAS ELECTED AS PRESIDENT OF THE SOUTH AFRICA ON FEB-15 AS JACOB ZUME RESIGNS. Cyril Ramaphosa was elected as the 5th President (Since the end of the Apartheid System in 1994) of South Africa, after the current President Jacob Zuma resigned over the corruption allegations. WADA has stepped up checks on laboratories around the world ever since uncovering evidence of wide-ranging doping and cover-ups at the Moscow laboratory.
