STANDARD(S): 4.OA.4 F- Find all factor pairs for a whole number in the range 1-36. Recognize that a whole number is a multiple of each of its factors. Determine whether a given whole number in the range 1-36 is a multiple of a given one-digit number. Determine whether a given whole number in the range 1-36 is prime or composite OBJECTIVE(S): Students will determine multiples of a number. ASSESSMENT: 2 1. Students can practice finding multiples on their own or with another person. MATERIALS: Computer Google Slides Factors Video- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJ-T8z2-Zg4 Rainbow Factor Video- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GG1luzhhT_g PROCEDURE: 1. Ask students what the fastest way to count to 100 is. Have students share out what they think would be the fastest way to get to 100. Discuss what they think is right and why that is right. (Motivation) 2. After discussing, tell them that there are many ways to get to 100, but the fastest way is by using different multiples. 3. Display proficiency scale and discuss what each category is. 3 should be the sunny spot, this is where we want all students to eventually be at. 4. Introduce what a multiple is. (slide 4) 5. Do several examples with students to work on multiples. (slide 5) a. I do-Multiples of 2 b. Display video of whiteboard examples. 6. Have students pause and practice multiples themselves as well. (slide 6) 3 a. We do-multiples of 9 b. Display video of whiteboard examples. 7. Remind students that we have just been working on multiples up to x6, but multiples can go on forever and ever! (slide 7) 8. Display numbers and have students write down multiples of the given number. Display answers when students are done. (slide 8 & 9) a. You do-multiples of 3 .
