Athletic Website athletics.desales.edu athletics.desales.edu 2008-09 DeSales University Men’s Basketball - 1 DeSales University DeSales University is a private, coeducational, mid-size, Catholic university located on a beautiful 400-acre campus in Center Valley, Pa., just minutes south of the metropolitan Allentown/Bethlehem area, and north of charming Bucks County. It is also within an easy drive of Philadelphia, New York and the Jersey shore. The University was established by the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales in the Allentown Diocese in 1964. The mission of DeSales University is to provide men and women with higher quality education according to the philoso- phy of Christian humanism as developed by Saint Francis de Sales and his spiritual heirs. The University imparts knowledge about and develops talents for personal, familial, and societal living. DeSales University enriches the human community and enhances the dignity of the individual through its educational endeavors. Today the University enrolls nearly 1,600 full-time day students and an additional 1,050 graduate and part-time adult students. DeSales offers 35 bachelor’s degrees including eight pre-professional programs, and six graduate programs. A liberal arts degree from DeSales is also excellent preparation for advanced study in professional fi elds such as law, medicine and health care, dentistry, or secondary education. The spectrum of majors are offered across nine academic departments, with particular strength in the Perform- ing Arts, Natural and Health Sciences, Business and Education. The business curriculum prepares students for successful careers in areas that range from accounting to sports management. DeSales also offers Pennsylvania Department of Education certifi cation in elementary education, secondary education and special education. The school’s Performing and Fine Arts Department is nationally renowned, and offers degrees in theatre, dance and TV/fi lm. Students have access to superb teachers, world-class performance facilities, and fi rst-rate artistic productions, along with many hands-on opportunities such as a professional summer theatre internship with the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival.
