The 'Lifeline of the Nation' is always running on the tracks to connect many lives and places. In the hope of bringing top-class facilities to the many lives it connects, Indian Railways is seen as a cynosure of progress. Indian Railways has made great contributions towards the goals of Make In India and Digital India movements to make dreams that were distant, an awe-inspiring reality. Western Railway as part of the Indian Railways has played a significant role in the journey of excellence by creating several records and has displayed excellence through figures in various areas. This year too, it has surpassed many targets set for the year 2019-20, creating new benchmarks day in and out. Let's take a look at those major achievements of Western Railway through the lens of figures and facts. GM's WESTERN MESSAGE RAILWAY A commitment on wheels uring the current testing times of DCOVID-19 when the passenger services of Indian Railways are stopped, the resilient railway fraternity is united and not just facing the lockdown but also mobilising the resources and maintaining the supply chain of the country by operating goods and special parcel trains. The staff of railways is going beyond the call of duty and manufacturing masks, sanitizers, converting coaches in quarantine wards, arranging food for the needy, medical assistance to state govt, etc. Indian Railways has always stood with the people of nation and year after year contributed for the development of nation in every possible way. The social image of an organization is a reflection of its evolution, along with its success and achievements and is the outcome of talent, hardwork, sincerity and dedication of employees, who bring glory to the organization. Western Railway, an important zone of Indian Railways, contributes immensely towards the socio economic growth of the country and lives upto the expectations of its customers and passengers. The success story of Western Railway is one, wherein the spirit and the team work of railwaymen glorify the organization by innovating and reaching newer heights.It is due to this unparalleled contribution of numerous devoted officers &employees, who stand true to the test of excellence, that Western Railway, on course towards an unceasing march of progress, has crossed several milestones in year 2019-20 and posted best figures on Indian Railways in various fields. The second best railway being 104 RKM behind Western Railway 1st on Indian Railways to complete the work of retro fitment of LED lights in passenger coaches. During 2019-20, 4016 coaches were retro-fitted with LED lights Achieved 21.68 Mts Container loading, highest over Indian Railways WR ranked 1st on Indian Railways in Earnings from Non-Fare Revenue (Advts) of Rs. 91.71 crores. This is 29.05% more than last FY and an all time high on WR WR retained number 1 position in Punctuality during 2019-20 also. More trains can be now run at 130 kmph thereby saving traveling time. 179 lev el crossings have been eliminated (86 out of which manned) 6 WESTERN ACHIEVEMENTS RAILWAY 2019-20 MECHANICAL All Rolling Stock Workshops on WR declared “ZERO SCRAP” workshops Segregation at source and 41 rakes disposal as per upgraded under environmental norms implemented project Rs 77.52cr utkrisht at these saved towards workshops energy bill up to Feb 2020 through regenerative ICF coaches breaking in of 20 Rakes EMU trains replaced with LHB coaches taking total to 43 rakes 2nd upgraded with AC–EMU rake LHB coaches commissioned thereby facilitating running of AC suburban services on Saturdays & Sundays also. 53 LHB rakes converted to HOG system in this year thus all 70 LHB rakes over WR are now converted to HOG system 7 ACHIEVEMENTS WESTERN RAILWAY 2019-20 S & T Electronic Interlocking 27 commissioned at 27 stations Replacement of Mechanical Signaling completed at 12 stations 12 LED Signal Unit installed at 18 18 station in this financial year LED Signal Unit (Main Aspect) installed in 2892 nos 2892 Fire Detection and Alarm System 48 installed at 48 stations across Western Railway Installed Public Address Systems at 27 stations 27 Commissioned free WiFi 361 at 361 stations 8 WESTERN ACHIEVEMENTS RAILWAY 2019-20 ELECTRICAL Mahesana-Vadnagar section of 25kVac OHE commissioned in just seven months Surendranagar-Botad-Dhola (119 RKM) and Surendranagar-Dhrangandhra (31 RKM) section being the longest section i.e. 150 RKM was commissioned WR received First prize in Transport category during National Energy Conservation Awards 2019 instituted by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power Two awards were received in Institute category viz.
