Written around the year 800 AD, the Book of Kells contains a richly decorated copy of the four gospels in a latin text. Christchurch Cathedral Christ Church Cathedral (founded c.1028) is the spiritual heart of the city and one of the top visitor attractions in Dublin. Kilmainham Gaol If you have a desire to understand Irish history – especially about resistance to the British rule – then a visit to this former prison is an absolute must. Dublin Castle Erected in the early thirteenth century on the site of a Viking settlement, Dublin Castle served for centuries as the headquarters of English, and later British, administration in Ireland. In 1922, following Ireland’s independence, Dublin Castle was handed over to the new Irish government. It is now a major government complex used for different venues and also opens for visitors. (Subject to availability) Museum of Modern Arts - Imma The Irish Museum of Modern Art is housed in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, the finest 17th-century building in Ireland.
