All of those votes were cast at the Board of Elections office in Whiteville, as early voting in precincts began Wednesday afternoon. Records show that 679 voted Thursday, the first day of early voting, 617 voted Friday, 666 voted Monday and 637 voted Tuesday. Several people showed up early Wednesday to vote, but were told that voting did not begin until 8:30 a.m. Most waited to vote.
