At the age of 18 Ben and his father started the group The Kentucky New Grass. The NKG was kind of a tribute to the late Lawrence Lane, the founder and lead singer for the old NKG from back in the 70's and 80's. Ben and his wife Dereka have one beautiful daughter Molly Anne. They reside in Russell, Ky. Ben's influences are Brian Sutton, Charlie Waller, Ronnie Bowman and Glen Childers. Ben and his family are a down home Christian family who loves the Lord. Mike Jarrell ~ Guitar/Vocals/Song Writer Mike Jarrell, from Williamsport, Ky, began playing guitar at the age of 14. It wasn't until he was 23 that he got bit by the bluegrass bug. He was taken to a show by fellow Land of Lincoln band member, Bruce Davis, where Mike saw The Chapmans and Larry Cordle. From that day forward all of his efforts have geared toward bluegrass guitar. Mike was a founding member of the gospel group Salvation Rain, where he also discovered a joy for writing. Mike and his wife Jamalyn have two beautiful children, Luke 7 and Lilly 4. Mike has also been in the ministry for fourteen years and now serves as assistant pastor at Boonscamp Free Will Baptist in Boonscamp, Ky. Mike's main musical influences are Tony Rice and Kenny Smith. When asked about the role bluegrass music plays in his life, Mike replied, "It is my favorite past time and really produces a lot of joy, but my life is serving Christ and living for Him!" Brad Powers ~ Banjo/Vocals Brad Powers from Paintsville, Ky has been in love with music for as long as he can remember. As a young boy, he played guitar in church and with his family’s gospel group, The Powers Family. His Saturday nights consisted of a tradition of front porch hymns with his very large family. However, it was a few years down the road at age nineteen when he got his first banjo. Brad's uncle asked if he would learn to play a banjo if he bought him one and Brad responded, "I'll try my best!" A couple of weeks later he had his first banjo and has been in love with it ever since. Just five months after picking it up, he was traveling all over the eastern United States with the gospel group Salvation Rain and he has recorded on several projects for various artists and bands. Brad and his beautiful wife Amy have three wonderful boys, Kaiden, Karson and Jackson, and make their home just outside of Paintsville. He enjoys fishing, hunting and playing music in his spare time. He is my everything." Bruce Aaron Davis ~ Mandolin Bruce Aaron Davis from Paintsville, Ky has been involved with music since childhood. At age 12 he began playing guitar for Forrest Pelphrey and Friends. At age 15, Bruce along with some of his high school buddies founded a local band called 5 Miles from Nowhere. He remained with them until his first semester in college when he left the band for a full time mandolin job with Charlie Lawson and Oak Hill. Bruce kept the position for a year and a half when he decided to come home to be more involved with church and family. Since that time Bruce has met his beautiful wife Tamara and they have one son, Bracken. Bruce answered the call to the ministry and pastors the Pigeon Enterprise Baptist Church in Oil Springs, Ky.
