Informing this in a press statement, village council chairman, Ngulkhoneh Hangsing said that the outbreak occurred due to heavy rain, which led all potable water sources of the village contaminated and villagers severely affected by contaminated water. As the condition of the villagers became critical, VCC said it called for distressed help on Tuesday to CMO Peren and Assam Rifles post, Ahthibung.However, timely response from both Government agencies, the situation was brought under control and adequate medicines given to village ASHA to counter such criticality in future by the Government agencies, VCC said. Two teams led by Dr. Vezokholu Khamo, MO PHC, Ahthibung and Dr. Ramhhgum, CHC, Jalukie along with BFNA (Battalion Field Nursing Assistant) of AR reached the village in due time and treated the villagers who were severely affected. Meanwhile, village chief of New Chalkot village, Sehkholal Hangsing expressed gratitude to the government agencies for their timely medical assistance.
