Conference games still tied after a five-minute 5-on-5 overtime advance to a five-minute 3-on-3 overtime (and sudden victory shootout if still tied) with the team that wins the second overtime/shootout receiving an extra point in the standings (3/SW in the standings), making all games worth three (3) points. The 3-on-3 overtime and shootouts only affect conference standings, while the game is officially a tie for NCAA purposes. NCHC FaCts aNd Figures This Week’s Games • NCHC teams wrapped up non-conference play for the season last Friday, Jan. 11 weekend, finishing with a combined record of 52-25-8 in non-conference *No. 20 Miami at No. 14/14 Western Michigan, 7:08 p.m. ET play this season, with the .659 win percentage tops among the six Division TV: CBS Sports Network I men’s hockey conferences (Big Ten is second at .590). The .659 win *No. 1/1 St. Cloud State at No. 5/5 Minnesota Duluth, 7:07 p.m. CT percentage tops last season's NCHC combined non-conference record of *Colorado College at North Dakota, 7:37 p.m. CT 47-22-15 (.649) in regular-season play. The NCHC has compiled the best *Omaha at No. 3/4 Denver, 7:38 p.m. MT combined non-conference record among the six conferences in three of the TV: CBS Sports Network last four seasons (2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17). The four ranked teams in the USA Hockey Magazine Poll lead all conferences, while the five teams in the USCHO.com Poll tie for the most with ECAC Hockey. (page 9) LasT Week’s Results • Coming into last weekend, there were no active NCHC players with 100 Wednesday, Jan. 2 career points, but three players joined the Century Club last weekend. at Maine 4, Colorado College 2 Miami senior forward Josh Melnick (35g, 65a in 128 GP), St. Cloud State senior defenseman Jimmy Schuldt (33g, 67a in 135 GP), and SCSU senior Friday, Jan. 4 forward Robby Jackson (41g, 59a in 129 GP) all now sit on 100 career & No. 14 Union 7, No. 1/1 St. Cloud State 2 points. SCSU senior forward Patrick Newell is the next-closest NCHC player at No. 10/10 Providence 4, No. 16 Miami 2 to joining the club with 94 career points (28g, 66a), while Denver senior at Canisius 3, No. 13 North Dakota 1 forward Jarid Lukosevicius has 93 points in 136 games (54g, 39a). No. 8/7 Denver 6, at Wisconsin 3 • There's plenty of intrigue in the top-5 series taking place between St. ^ No. 17 Western Michigan 5, vs. UConn 1 Cloud State and UMD in Duluth this weekend. SCSU first-year head coach Brett Larson was a UMD assistant coach from 2008-11 and again the Saturday, Jan. 5 last three seasons (2015-18), helping the Bulldogs win two national titles $ No. 1/1 St. Cloud State 5, Robert Morris 2 under head coach Scott Sandelin. In addition, Sandelin, UMD sophomore No. 16 Miami 3, at No. 10/10 Providence 3 (OT) defensemen Mikey Anderson and Dylan Samberg and freshman forward at Canisius 2, No. 13 North Dakota 1 Noah Cates all return to UMD after helping the U.S. National Junior No. 8/7 Denver 4, at Wisconsin 3 (OT) Team win a silver medal at the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship in U.S. U-18 National Team 4, at No. 4/5 Minnesota Duluth 2 (Exh.) Vancouver. Sandelin was an assistant coach for Team USA, while the UMD ^ No. 17 Western Michigan 4, Air Force 1 trio was teammates with SCSU junior forward Ryan Poehling, who rejoins the Huskies to play against his teammates from last week. Poehling was * National Collegiate Hockey Conference Game named MVP of the World Juniors tournament, as well as the Top Forward & Three Rivers Classic (UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex, Cranberry Township, Pa.) (5g, 3a in 7 GP). WMU freshman blue liner Mattias Samuelsson also won a $ Three Rivers Classic (PPG Paints Arena, Pittsburgh, Pa.) silver with Team USA, rejoining the Broncos to face No. 20 Miami.
