Riley McKay (1) and Max Gerlach (1) also scored for the Blades, Brandon Schuldhaus had 2 assists, and Nolan Maier made 21 saves for the win in goal. Eric Alarie (1) and Kaeden Taphorn (1) scored for the Warriors; Brodan Salmond stopped 35/38 shots. Head to head… In game 1 the Blades outshot the Warriors 38-23 and won 43 of 64 faceoffs. Saskatoon held the edge in special teams scoring the only power play goal so far in the series. Max Gerlach finished one point behind Davidson with 74, including 42 goals which tied for 6th most in the WHL. Top CHL prospect for the 2019 NHL Draft, Kirby Dach, finished 3rd in teams scoring with 73 points, and had the highest points-per-game on the Blades roster at 1.18PPG. In goal, Nolan Maier piled up 36 wins which was the 3rd most in the WHL. The 2001 born sophomore finished with a stat line of 2.63GAA - .910SV% - 36-10-4-0 and 4 shutouts. The Opponent… The Moose Jaw Warriors boast a lethal lineup of two of the top three scorers in the WHL. Tristin Langan finished second in the WHL scoring race with 113 points and his line mate Justin Almeida was right behind with 111. Playing between those two is rookie Brayden Tracey who led all WHL rookies with 81 points. On the back end, the Warriors have two of the league’s top defenders in Josh Brook, who tied for the WHL scoring race among defensemen with Saskatoon’s Dawson Davidson at 75, and Vancouver Canucks signed prospect, Jett Woo who had 66 points. Mr. 300… Dawson Davidson finished his WHL regular season career with 301 games played. Not only did Davidson have an impressive year with 75 points, he is also the owner of the longest assist streak in the WHL this season at 15 games and 24 assists. He had 21 multi-point games this season and 3 goals and 2 assists vs Moose Jaw in 6 meetings. Nolan Being Nolan… Since January 1st, Nolan Maier is 19-2-2-0 in 23 regular season starts to go along with a .918SV% and 2.40GAA and 2 shutouts. Maier won his WHL playoff debut last night allowing just 2 goals on 23 shots. Draft watch… Kirby Dach is ranked #2 among North American skaters behind only consensus #1 pick Jack Hughes. Emil Malysjev is ranked 208th among North American skaters. Nolan Maier was rated a ‘C’ in the September rankings and finished 3rd in the WHL with 36 wins this season. Maier also won a gold medal alongside Dach with Team Canada at the 2018 Hlinka-Gretzky Cup in Edmonton, Alta. Chase Wouters went undrafted last June but did attend Tampa Bay Lightning’s summer, rookie, and main camps.
