"Towards Sustainable Development" Responsive | Respected | Responsible | Relevant ABOUT REHDA INSTITUTE ABOUT REHDA INSTITUTE Originally spearheaded and with support from REHDA Malaysia, REHDA Institute is a not for profit charitable foundation which acts as the training and research arm of REHDA Malaysia to address the needs of the housing and property industry. The affairs of REHDA Institute are governed by an independent the Board of Trustees led by REHDA Institute Chairman. The Board consists of prominent industry personalities including many past-Presidents of REHDA Malaysia who have contributed significantly to the growth and advancement of the housing and property industry. REHDA Institute objectives and activities focuses on the 3 main pillars of: (1) Training & Events: Providing industry relevant training and events for the real estate and property development industry with the aim to improve productivity, innovate new ideas towards achieving the highest standards of professionalism and advance best practices for the industry. (2) Research: Spearhead research of industry relevant content for the benefit of members, improvements on best industry practices and contribute to the positive development of Malaysia as a whole. This will be done through producing industry relevant papers, collating research data, publications and analysis of current issues. (3) Education: Working hand in hand with tertiary institutions, REHDA Institute aspires to work on Executive Programmes for middle and senior management of the industry to groom future leaders of the industry. These Executive Programmes will be industry relevant to improve the value and skillset of those involved in the industry. Background of REHDA Malaysia & REHDA Institute Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association (REHDA Malaysia) Headquartered in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, with branches all over Peninsular Malaysia, the Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association Malaysia (REHDA) was originally established in May 1970, originally known as the Housing Developers’ Association Malaysia (HDA). In October 2000, HDA was renamed the Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association Malaysia (REHDA). Starting from just 13 pioneer members, REHDA has grown from strength to strength to position itself as a key partner in the building Malaysia’s socio economic foundation as a nation and today boasts a membership of over 1,400 corporate members comprising of developers across Peninsular Malaysia, many whom are responsible for some of 80% of the total real estate built in Peninsular Malaysia. REHDA is recognised as the leading representative body for private property developers, being involved primarily in advocacy and governance. Our members are involved in all types of property development, from traditional housing projects to condominiums, townships, towering commercial complexes, shopping malls, state-of-the-art golf courses, hospitals, theme parks and industrial estates. Being the sole national representative body for property developers, REHDA plays a pivotal role in ensuring that developers’ views are heard by the relevant authorities and government agencies. REHDA INSTITUTE | Profile 02 BOARD OF TRUSTEES BOARD OF TRUSTEES Dato’ Jeffrey Ng is Patron, Past President of REHDA (2002 - 2006) and Past Chairman of REHDA Wilayah Persekutuan (KL Branch). Currently the Chairman of REHDA Institute, Dato’ Jeffrey sits on various other Boards: • CEO & Executive Director of Sunway REIT. • Director, United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Berhad. • Director, Urban Hallmark Properties Sdn Bhd. • Chairman of Malaysian REIT Managers Association. • Panel member of the Appeal Board under the Federal Dato’ Jeffrey Ng Tiong Lip Territory (Planning) Act 1982. • Committee Member, REHDA Wilayah Persekutuan Chairman, REHDA Institute (KL) branch (2014/2016). Board of Trustees Prior to joining Sunway REIT Management Sdn Bhd, he was the Executive Director of Sunway City Berhad (currently known as Sunway Berhad) and former Managing Director of AP Land Berhad. Dato’ Jeffrey has more than 30 years of extensive experience in finance, corporate planning and executive management in the property and hotel industry in both Malaysia and Australia. Graduated with a Bachelor of Economics from Monash University in Melbourne, he is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants, a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Australia and New Zealand as well as a Fellow member of the Malaysian Institute of Directors. He has held various positions in non-governmental associations, among which was Director of Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), Vice President and Secretary General of FIABCI Malaysian Chapter (International Real Estate Federation), Vice President of Malaysian Association of Hotel Owners (MAHO), Chapter Chairman of Young Presidents Organisations (YPO) Malaysian Chapter and Vice Chairman of Malaysia Australia Business Council (MABC). Dato’ Jeffrey was awarded “Real Estate and Housing Developers Association (REHDA) Personality of the year 2015” for his contribution to the real estate industry. Immediate past Chairman of REHDA Institute, Tan Sri Datuk Eddy is currently Trustee of REHDA Institute. He also sits in various capacities on other Boards: • Managing Director of MKH Berhad. • Chairman of the Malaysia Shopping Malls Association (PPK) (2016/2018). • Chairman for the Construction and Property Committee in the Association Chinese. REHDA Institute Trustee Tan Sri Datuk Eddy Chen was has been holding the present position as Managing Director of MKH Berhad since 2005. Equipped with a BBS in Marketing from Monash University, Australia, he has more than 32 years’ experience in property development and construction related businesses. He was awarded the “REHDA Personality of the Year 2013 Award” from his active contributions to the property industry. Tan Sri Datuk Eddy Chen also sits on various government-private sector committees that formulate policies governing the housing and real estate industry, including PEMUDAH national task force on reviving abandon housing and construction permit chaired by Y.Bhg Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Ali Bin Hamsa, Chief Secretary to the Government of Malaysia. He is also the advisory council member of housing and local government training institute (I-KPKT), and the advisory committee member of the master in science of housing development and management for University Utara Malaysia. Tan Sri Datuk Eddy Chen was recipient of the CEO OF THE YEAR AWARD on The Malaysian Construction Industry Excellence Awards (MCIEA) 2015 by CIDB Malaysia.
