THE HARD REPORT 3 APRIL 2, 1993 New Releases David Bowie. Black Tie White Noise. Savage The advice from us is "JUST LET GO!" What you hear will capture you and send you some- where else. This is actually a very sexual album (which is by no means sur- AL,Biu- 51 prising when you consider what David Bowie has offered throughout the years). This is an album that explotes the topic of racial boundaries and con- Lw Tw Artist Album gruencies. Black Tie White Noise also expands the boundaries of luck and incorporating a multitude of invented sounds, noises and melodies. One 1 1 Coverdale/Pa s e "Coverdale/Pa " of the interesting things about the album is the fact that it is very complete and cohesive. If you listen from beginning to end, each song relates to the A 2 2 Mick Ja er "Wanderin S irit" next musically as well as spiritually. The iect is chilling and will prepare you for the rest. A cover of Cream's "I Feel Free" is updat- ed like only David Bowie can. His changes bring the song back in a wildly A 11 7 Alice In Chains different manner, while tactfully reminding you how good the original still A 9 8 Def Les s ard "Adrenalize" is. Another cover you'll find is the Beatles 'Don't Let Me Down". Bowie takes this one to the edge as a soulful ballad. "Jump They Say" (the first sin- 7 9 Masters Of Reality "Sunrise On The ..." gle) is already a top 15 track at Alternative and Triple A. AOR has gotten A 12 10 Peter Gabrie their hands on it too as it "Jumps" to 32* on the Hard Hundred this week. We've all been waiting a long time for this project and there is nothing dis- appointing here. David's characteristic jazz element is present, hiding • 15 12 Arc An els "Arc An els" motile every comer of Black Tie White Noise. This album is a wonderful A 20 13 Eric Cla don "Un 'lus ed" test of 90's rock limits. A 16 14 Livins Colour "Stain" Warren Haynes. Tales Of Ordway Madness.
