I am honored to be part of the legacy of the resource guide, starting with the fierce activist Kiyoshi Kuromiya. The Resource Guide first emerged in November 1989 as a listing of 83 agencies. Since then, the Resource Guide has grown to over 700 organizations thanks to the incredible work of those who have compiled this listing in the past. In past years, the title of this book was The Greater Philadelphia AIDS Resource Guide. This year the name has changed because many of the resources listed in this guide can be accessed by anyone, regardless of their HIV status. This guide is not exclusively for people living with HIV/AIDS but instead a resource for those in search of services in the Greater Philadelphia area. The Resource Guide still includes information specific to those living with HIV/AIDS. A listing of programs for people living with HIV can be found in the index, the HIV Clinic Guide can be found on the blue pages, and the HIV Testing Guide in the yellow pages. This year we have added the Hepatitis C Testing Guide and Dental Clinic Guide. The Faith Guide is now a separate publication, a collaboration between Philadelphia FIGHT’s AIDS Library and Office of Faith Initiatives. The organizations listed in this guide came to us over the years from partner organizations and referrals through our network of clients, volunteers, and staff. Each year we seek out new organizations to include in the guide. Because of the constant growing and shifting of the organizations in this guide, it is vital to update the information each year. We encourage individuals and organizations to contact us with feedback, corrections, and updates on an ongoing basis. If there is an organization that you feel belongs in the guide but is not listed, please suggest it and we will follow up with them. If you find errors, please fill out the “We Want to Know” form and send it our way. If you have questions about the resources listed in the following pages or if you do not find what you are looking for, please contact the AIDS Library, and we will do our best to support you in finding that resource. Please visit our website for a mobile friendly, searchable version of the Resource Guide: www.aidslibrary.org. In addition to The Greater Philadelphia Resource Guide, FIGHT publishes the Philadelphia Housing Guide, Reentry Planning Manual, and Faith Guide every June. These guides are free and can be accessed at the AIDS Library or online. Support from the staff of Philadelphia FIGHT was vital in the production of the Resource Guide.
