Sailing Protocol for All Sailors May 20, 2020 Update

***ALL Sailors must complete a NEW Liability Waiver, updated May 2020*** Detailed Procedures 1. Reserve the boat online a. Through May 31, a boat may only be reserved once per day. i. During this time, reservations can be longer than 4 hours b. On June 1 or before, The DSC will announce a phased reopening plan that enables boats to be used by multiple parties over the span of a day c. Sonar use is limited at this time. d. Follow regular boat reservation times whenever possible. e. Singlehanded sailing is allowed within sight of The DSC docks 2. Wear a Clean Face Covering covering nose and mouth ​ 3. Keep all non-essential equipment at home. 4. Maintain Social Distance between non-household groups at all times ​ 5. Wash Hands thoroughly with soap and water for 20+ seconds ​ a. Do not leave water running - staff must carry used water offsite 6. Take Temperature NEAR forehead or temple ​ ​ ​ a. Squeeze trigger and hold for one second, approximately 5 cm from skin surface. b. Temperature will be in degrees Celcius. Temperature should be between 34.5 C (94 F) and 37.5 C (99.5 F). c. If temperature is below 34.5 C, take temperature again. d. IF YOUR TEMPERATURE IS ABOVE 37.5 C, DO NOT ENTER DOCK!!! Tell the ​ ​ staff person immediately. 7. Record Name, Date, Boat, Temp, and Time in the Sailor Log (black Rite in the Rain). ​ ​ ​ a. Every person must be recorded b. Do Not Skip any Lines 8. Grab w/ Jib bag. 9. Grab Throwable and don lifejacket(s) appropriately ​ 10. Grab Safety Box near white dock box. KEEP CLOSED EXCEPT IN EMERGENCY!!! ​ a. Safety Box contains Flares, Whistle, and Throw Bag. 11. KEEP CABIN & HATCH CLOSED except in emergency!!! a. Emergency Ladder is in Yellow Basket 12. Stow cover, tiller cover, and extra sail ties in Jib Bag. Secure Jib Bag to Dock. 13. Leave Fender on Dock. Keep Line and Stern Line Attached 14. Go Sailing: have fun, be safe! IMMEDIATELY AFTER DOCKING: WASH HANDS!!! ​

Derigging and “Clean then Disinfect” Procedures

1. Wash Hands Immediately after Docking ( loosely secured only) ​ 2. Roll Main on (from head to foot, along leech) a. Secure main cover but LEAVE TILLER COVER OFF!!! ​ 3. Roll Jib on boom (from head to foot, along leech) 4. Stow Jib in Jib Bag 5. Rinse boat with running water 6. CLEAN boat with Soap Mixture: White Brush ​ a. Rinse soap away with running water 7. DISINFECT boat with Bleach Mixture: Yellow Brush ​ a. This step is VERY important. Please use care and thoroughly apply bleach mixture to all surfaces, including shrouds i. ii. handle & Winch Handle Pocket iii. Dock Cleats, cabin top cleats and lines, jib and cockpit cleats iv. Tiller and Tiller Extension v. Safety box b. Leave bleach mixture on. Do not rinse. 8. Return “Clean then Disinfect” products; straighten hose on finger pier 9. Place Safety Box OUTSIDE of white dock box 10. Return jib to Compass Rose. Wash Hands before exiting docks. 11. Clean then Disinfect Throwable and any DSC life jackets on compass rose. ​ a. Rinse, Clean, Rinse, Disinfect; leave bleach mixture on. ​ 12. Return throwable to throwables line 13. Place wet lifejackets on WET side; clip using the buckle ​ ​
