Lesson 1 - Genesis (Creation) 1. Binder Intro: As students arrive, guides pass around the attendance sheet and have students add their cell numbers so the guides can create a group text. Go through the binder together, explaining each section and what it’s used for so the kids are familiar with the different documents and sections. 2. Photo Challenge (5 minutes): Guides will let students know today they will be learning about creation from the book of Genesis. Guides will send students out in their immediate area with their phones to take a picture of something in creation that speaks to them, inspires them, makes them think, takes their breath away, etc...Set timer for 3:30 minutes. As students are out taking pics, guides will be quickly creating their group text and sending out a group text to everyone. As students gather back, they will send their creation photo to the group text. 3. Share your Photos and Favorite Candy Introductions (5 minutes): Each person introduces themselves, shares their favorite candy, and shares their photo. Why did you choose this photo? 4. Share Worship A-ha Moments (3 minutes): Open up to their worship a-ha moments and explain how they are to be used each week 5. Read Genesis 1-2:3 to review (3 minutes) 6. Watch large group video(10 minutes) - Have students take out their Story Maps and fill out as you watch the video. 7. Discussion questions (5 minutes): a. What stood out to you in the video? b. What is your favorite part of creation? c. How can you help care for creation? What can you do this week? 8. Gratitude sharing and closing prayer - Each person shares one item they are grateful for from the “I am grateful” page. When everyone has shared, the guide can close in prayer. 9. At Home or do during group if there is time: Journaling (3-5 minutes): Open up to your journaling page and answer this question either in writing, drawing, doodling, comments, etc...: When have you felt most inspired by creation? (share at home) 10. Have Extra Time?? - Play a name game...have kids take turns and say their name and then an animal that starts with that letter. For example: Lisa Lion. Then the next person says their name AND the name and animal of the people who have gone before them. So - Aiden Ape, Lisa Lion. The last person has the biggest challenge! .
