Presidents report PRESIDENT’S REPORT TO THE LGSA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF 2019

Another busy year for everyone throughout the State, with rainfall down after a promising start so let’s hope we get a wet August/ September.

The Committee has met on a regular basis throughout the year and the Minutes of those meetings are available on the website, if you wish to follow them up. The Honour Board is also on the website.

Greg Jackson and Karl Mickle have come and gone from the committee this year and we thank them for their contribution.

It’s good to see you all here and I wish more of your colleagues would attend this annual event, which provides everyone with a great opportunity to interact with both colleagues and exhibitors, and to widen your knowledge through presentations and discussions. Over 80 exhibitors have supported this event – and while some are old friends, there are several new groups we hope you have or will, catch up with.

The Committee and members sincerely thank the following sponsors for their support for this event, including:

• WesTrac – Gold Sponsors • ELB Equipment – Silver Sponsor and N.A.G.A sponsor • AFGRI – Bronze Sponsor • Corsign – Major Golf Sponsor • Daimler Trucks – Lunch Sponsor • Jason Signmakers – Buggy Sponsor • Komatsu – Golf Drink Sponsor • CJD – Casino Royale Drink Sponsor

We had some new Exhibitors this year:

• Alcholizer • Graysonline • PTE group • Geko • Teletrac • Metrocount • Delnorth • Sherron • AAA Asphalt

We thank all sponsors and exhibitors most sincerely for their commitment which enables this event to be held.

I sincerely thank Jeff for undertaking his voluntary office of Treasurer. His commitment to the job and reliability cannot be questioned. Thankyou Jeff, from all of the Committee and the Membership.

I also thank our committee Ken Markham as deputy now for ten years, all the best for what is to come, Scott Herbert from Replas for the wonderful organising of the golf and the rest of the committee, your commitment to our meetings and this event is appreciated by all.

Finally I would like to thank Jude Newbury our events co-ordinator for the organising of this event. Jude’s experience and organising skills are second to none. On a personal note without Jude’s support I would have pulled out of the Presidents job a few years ago.

Thank you all for your attendance and support and I look forward to seeing you all again next year.

I will be stepping down as President but wish the new President and Committee all the best for the upcoming years

Arthur Cousins President

Thank you to all the members for your support of the LGSA and the conferences in particular. Your support is very much appreciated. The ongoing success of the LGSA is determined by the memberships and the support of the annual conference.

Every year the LGSA becomes stronger financially and this is in part due to the massive amount of work that Jude Newberry the Admin Officer does during the year. So thank you Jude for your tireless work that you do with the convention, your other day to day work and also your support that you give to me.

Thank you to Arthur Cousins for what you have contributed to the LGSA as a committee member and then as the President. I will expect Arthur to loom large in the background somewhere.

Thank you for your support and trust that you have put in me as Treasurer.

Ken and the rest of the committee have been fantastic to work with as usual. If things pan out the way that is expected, then we will have an excellent replacement as President and Vice President.

Thank you to all the Committee for their incredible support and your passion for the LGSA is fantastic.

Thank you to the committee members that are leaving this year, and I look forward to welcoming the new committee members.

General Business Conference 2020 The floor was open to suggestions as to possible venues to host the Works and Parks Conference 2020. The venue would need to provide a golf course, accommodation, areas for internal and external exhibitors and conference and dining areas.

The Works and Parks Conference 2020 will once again be held at the Joondalup Resort. All in favour/Passed

Change in date of Conference A suggestion was made to change the date / month of the conference so that rain did not affect external exhibitors and the golf day. Due to school holidays and other events taking place around WA it was decided to keep the date the same. Not Passed

Affiliation with LGS Professionals

A discussion paper was pre-circulated to all members regarding continuing discussions with LG Professionals regarding an MOU between the groups.

Motion 1 Approval from members to continue further discussion with LG Professionals on this topic. Moved: Ken Markham All in favour/Passed Motion 2 Approval in principal for Committee to sign MOU between the groups on behalf of its members. Moved: Paul Warner All in favour/Passed

Day passes to conference

It was suggested that a day pass be available to Shires to send a person for a day to see what the conference is like and therefore increase the numbers attending in the future.

This matter had been extensively discussed at Committee level and most were in favour, but how to logistically manage it, and the cost was still to be determined.

The Committee would further discuss this matter and hopefully come to a solution before the next conference in 2020.

Final Remarks The President thanked the sponsors without whom the conference would not be possible. Thanked the Committee for their support during his term in office and handed over the Presidency to Mr Ken Markham, Perenjori.
