Last few weeks:

To say we scraped through our last couple of games would be an understatement. There is no mistaking it we were very lucky to win against Mayfield at home and Dockers away. It’s a strange situation to be in – the euphoria when you win a game like that is massive but when the dust settles it feels more like a defeat. I know most of the lads felt the same as me and hopefully we can put in an improved performance this week. We should have a fully fit squad to choose from so there are certainly no excuses this week.

Andy Locke:

Its been an impressive few weeks for our long standing physio Lockey. In July he completed the British ironman – including a 2.4mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and 26.2 mile run – an unbelievable effort. Then last week he was selected to sing ‘Abide with Me’ before the final at Wembley. They selected a number of ‘super fans’ from clubs throughout the UK and Andy was one of the fans selected. I can think of no other person more deserving of this selection than Andy. He is a true clubman and one of the many unsung heroes we have a Siddal. On behalf of all the lads – congratulations on the selection and thanks for being part of our team.

England Lions:

As already mentioned in the programme some of the lads have been picked to tour Fiji with the England Lions. Fundraising is now top of the priority list for those selected. We are having a raffle at the dinner in September and my mum has volunteered to try and sell some tickets at today’s game. Prizes include meals at Casa, Ziggys, Square 22, Champagne, Various haircuts and beauty treatments. Please dig deep and support the lads in any way you can.

We had a fantastic response to our “Give Back To Your Club” weekend. An army of volunteers turned out over four days to complete many tasks on and around the playing fields, the car park, the memorial garden and kids playground, the area leading onto the main pitch, the decking by the Kabin, outside the perimeter fence on Exley Lane and in the home changing rooms. The main pitch goalposts, the perimeter barrier and supports were all repainted.

We hope you agree the work has given the whole area a real facelift and we thank everyone who gave up their time.

Having a party? We are available for all types of functions: THE CHEVINEDGER wedding receptions, birthdays, anniversaries and corporate away days.
