Season Series to Date: Dayton 5, South Bend 5 (at South Bend: Dragons 2, Cubs 1). Current Series to Date: first meeting. Last Game: Wednesday: Dayton 11, Great Lakes 1. This was their first series sweep since they swept Cedar Rapids in a three-game set at Dayton May 7-9. Dragons pitchers posted a 1.29 ERA in the series against Great Lakes (28 IP, 4 ER). The Dragons have allowed three runs or less in five of the seven games played in the second half. Their second half team ERA is 3.23 compared to 5.31 in the first half. The Dragons have scored at least four runs in four straight games for the first time since June 2-6. Last night’s 11-run outburst marked the first time the Dragons scored more than four runs since June 6 (they had scored four or less in 17 straight games). The Dragons have committed just seven errors in their last 18 games. The Dragons have been the streakiest team in professional baseball in 2018. The Dragons threatened to tie the franchise record for most home wins in a half (25) in the First Half, but came up short. They entered their final series, a four-game series with Bowling Green, with 22 home wins in the first half, but they were swept in the series. Meanwhile, the Dragons broke the club record for fewest road wins in a half. The club record was 10 road wins, and the Dragons finished with nine.
