RENO, Nev. (July 24, 2006) – The Reno-Tahoe Open, scheduled for Aug. 21-27, 2006 at Montrêux Golf & Country Club in Reno, Nev., has extended one of its unrestricted sponsor exemptions to Jason Day, an 18-year-old Queenslander and a Australian, New Zealand and World Junior Champion title holder, who has entered the professional ranks as recently as this week with his play at the John Deere Classic, July 13-16, 2006, and his withdrawal from further amateur tournaments.

“He’s the next ‘big star’ according to Golf World and has shown to have an incredible drive and his youthful exuberance will be sure to capture the spirit of the sport and add yet another reason why this year’s Reno-Tahoe Open is a must see,” said Jim Kline, tournament director for the Reno-Tahoe Open. “Jason Day’s career is only just getting started and we’re thrilled he will be with us for the Reno-Tahoe Open tournament.”

Recent success in the United States includes top 10 finishes in the Monroe Invitational Championship and the Northeast Amateur event, as well as titles in including winning the Queensland Amateur and the Queensland Medal in recent months.
