PRAYING FOR THE DIOCESE 2014

The parish of Keash and Culfadda is situated some twenty miles south of Sligo and eight miles north west of Boyle. Some miles to the west lie the Slieve Gamph or Ox Mountains. The hills which start about four miles south of Collooney and remain low for another five miles rise to the distinctive limestone hill of Keashcorran, situated in the parish where a new Millennium Cross was erected in May 2000. Keash Church, dedicated to St Kevin, was built in 1809. It is one of the oldest churches still in use in the diocese. A beautiful Grotto dedicated to our Lady of Lourdes was erected in 1997 on the East side of the Church. Culfadda Church, dedicated to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, was opened in 1959. There are two National Schools, one in Keash and one in Culfadda. Two community centres and a wonderful football pitch. The Culfadda Show and Garland Sunday are wonderful occasions in the parish during the summer. Fr Gabriel Murphy is the parish priest of Keash.

DIOCESAN PRAYER Father, you walk always with your people. In Jesus Christ, you call us to a living relationship with you through the Holy Spirit given to us in Baptism and Confirmation. I ask you to send your Spirit afresh on me and on each member of the Church in our diocese of Achonry. Draw me into a deeper relationship with you so that I may have a sure sense of your love for me and all the wonderful ways you work in my life. Make me more aware of my vocation to be a disciple of Jesus Christ, dedicated to his mission of making you known among those with whom I live and work. As disciples of Jesus, we ask you, Father, to help us renew our parishes so that all will experience the joy of belonging to your family of faith, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
