In Memoriam

Chloe Barnhart Cook (1925-2021)

Chloe (Barnhart) Cook left this earth to find her Heavenly home on August 6, 2021. She was with family as she quietly ended a long struggle with COPD. Chloe was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings as well as three of her children, two grandchildren, and one great -grandchild. She is survived by her husband of 79 years, Henry "Bud" Cook, and six of her nine children. Chloe (Barnhart) Cook was born on March 12, 1925 in Compton, California, where she later married Henry "Bud" Cook, whom she met in high school. Together, they raised 9 children, leaving a legacy of 29 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and 25 great-great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. During most of her life, she worked as a waitress to help provide for her family. In later years, she served as a secretary for Santa Clara Catholic Church in Oxnard, CA, and she spent many of the past 29 years serving in a variety of volunteer positions at St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church in Wildomar, CA. She was devoted to God, her Church and her family. She was always willing to provide assistance to family and friends who were facing difficult times. Her love and caring will be missed by all who knew her. Family and friends will celebrate her life with a Funeral Mass at St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church, 21591 Lemon Street, Wildomar, CA 92595, at 10:00 am on Monday, August 30, 2021. We will gather after the service at her home.

Re: Daily Readings

The readings will no longer be published in the bulletin.

The Daily Reading can be found on the USCCB website or you can download the “free” Laudate App. If you use the USCCB site, just scroll down until you find Daily Readings, then touch and a calendar will open for you to choose the day/date you want to read. If you use the Laudate App it will open to a table of contents where you will see the Daily Readings & Saint of the Day. Touch this then touch Daily Readings. The reading for the day will come up.

August 22

On October 11, 1954, His Holiness, Pope Pius XII, in his encyclical letter, Ad Caeli Reginam, decreed and instituted the feast of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary to be celebrated throughout the world every year. He declared that the Church has believed in Mary’s Queenship from the earliest centuries and that this belief rests on Holy Scripture and tradition. Mary is Queen of all “since she brought forth a Son, Who at the very moment that He was conceived, was, by reason of the hypostatic union of the human nature with the Word, even as man, King and Lord of all things.” Further, “as Christ is our Lord and King by a special title because He redeemed us o the Blessed Virgin (is Our Lady and Queen) because of the unique way in which she has cooperated toward our redemption by giving of her own substance, by offering Him willingly for us, and be desiring, praying for, and bringing about our salvation in a singular manner.

PRAYER: God, You have given us the Mother of Your Son to be our Mother and Queen. Through her intercession, grant that we may attain the glory destined for Your adopted sons in Your heavenly Kingdom. Amen.

Almighty Father,

We are grateful to you for our existing worship center. We are also grateful and indebted to all the generous people over the years, especially the generation that founded this community some 130 years ago. We are grateful to have the opportunity to continue your work by building our future church for our children and this growing community. Lord, teach us true generosity that we will be the first to give, for all we have is yours. Help us to give wholeheartedly. Touch our hearts to not be afraid to give, for you take care of our needs and bless us with infinite rewards on earth and in Heaven. Through the intercession of St. Joseph, the carpenter, and St. Frances of Rome, our , help us to achieve our dream to build our future church, a space set apart from the mundane, solely dedicated to meet the divine, so that we are drawn to a more contemplative and deeper experience of you. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Amen.
