1 Point of Care Tools

Introduction:

For the benefits of the study, this initial report will look at all the available point of care tools that exist commercially. However, the distinction is to be made that point of care tools in this context only means those that are information resources and not those which solely perform calculations etc. Also, no information gathered concerning subscription costs for these resources. Where available/possible, I have also included which mobile devices will access these resources (in italics).

Point of Care has been defined as: “Any location where patient care is provided, including, eg., the bedside, radiology suite, emergency room, clinic or ambulance.” Taber, C.W. & Thomas, C.L., 1997., Taber’s cyclopedic medical dictionary. Philadelphia: F.A.Davis.
