Jury President

Tony CHING Siu-tung, | Director/Action Choreographer

He was born in Hong Kong in 1952, the son of famed director CHENG Kang. He was sent to learn Peking opera and the Northern style of martial arts when he was a child. Grown up, he began work- ing as a martial arts stuntman and body double. In the 1970s, he was promoted to the position of martial arts coordinator, and joined several TV stations. Working for many Mainland TV se- ries later, Ching has joined over 1000 episodes in total, including Meteor, Butterfly, Sword (1978), The Script of the Sword (1978), Legend of the Condor Heroes (1983), and The New Heaven Sword and The Dragon Sabre (1986), etc. He made his directorial debut with Duel to the Death (1982), pi- oneering a new style of martial arts that is fast-paced yet ethereal. His 1986 feature Witch From Nepal, for which he was also the martial arts coordinator, won the Best Action Choreography at the 6th Hong Kong Film Awards and the Kodak Special Award. His career reached a high point with (1987) which was well-received both domestically and overseas. Swordsman (1990) and Hero (2002) won him the Best Action Choreography of Hong Kong Film Awards. He also won the Best Action Choreography of The Golden Horse Awards for Dragon Inn (1992) and My School Mate, the Barbarian (2001). He acted as the chief action choreographer at the opening cer- emony of the Beijing Olympics in 2008.

His directorial output also includes A Chinese Ghost Story ll (1990), A Terra-Cotta Warrior (1990), The East is Red (1993, Co-Director: Raymond LEE), The Executioner (1993, Co-Director: Johnnie TO), Dr Wai in the Scripture Words (1994), An Empress and the Warriors (2008), The Sorcerer and the White Snake (2011). He also served as action choreographer on numerous films, including Royal Tramp (1992), City Hunter (1993), The Heroic Trio (1993), Love on Delivery (1994), House of Flying Daggers (2004), The Warlords (2007), Kung Fu Dunk (2008) and Future X-Cops (2010).

Cherry NGAN Cheuk-ling HONG KONG| Actress/ Singer

She was awarded the Best New Actor by the Hong Kong Directors’ Guild for her performance in Night Fall (2012). She was known for The Way We Dance (2013) which gained her nominations of the Best Actress of the 50th Golden Horse Awards and the 33rd Hong Kong Film Awards. In 2016, she was awarded Most Attractive New Actress in the 19th International Film Festival Movie Channel Media Award for At Café 6 (2016). She was also nominated the Best Supporting Ac- tress for Mojin-The Lost Legend (2015) at the 10th Asian Film Awards, for which she won the Best Newcomer at the 33rd Hundred Flowers Awards. NGAN keeps exploring her acting career in recent years in films including Finding Mr.Right 2 (2016), Cherry Returns (2016), Zombiology: Enjoy Your- self Tonight (2017), Concerto of the Bully (2017) etc.

LEE Jung-Jin SOUTH KOREA | Actor

He was born in 1978. Lee graduated from Konkuk University with a degree in horticulture before studying acting at Hanyang University. Lee worked as a fashion model before being discovered as an actor. He made his debut film, Bloody Beach, in 2000. In 2008, he won The MBC Drama Awards for Love You, Don't Cry (2008). Pieta (2012), which won the Award at the 69th Venice International Film Festival, marked the highpoint of Lee’s acting career. In 2013, TV series A Hun- dred Year Legacy (2013) won him Top Excellence Award for Actor at the 6th Korea Drama Awards and Top Excellence Award, Actor in a Serial Drama at The MBC Drama Awards. Lee joined the Chi- nese TV series If Love Can Start Over in 2015. His recent TV Drama appearance was tvN Drama The Liar and His Lover in 2017, played role as great music producer Choi Jin-Hyuk.
